With the release of Avengers: Endgame on home media, fans are quick to wield their trusty pause button in hopes of catching details missed in their first or second theatrical viewing. The ability to pore over the footage has already revealed a bevy of Easter eggs and ample fuel for fan theories, but it also allows for a deeper appreciation of the fast-paced action scenes. The Marvel Studios blockbuster was largely restrained with much of its action during the first act, focusing instead largely on character development and plot progression. However, one of the earliest sequences involves the ambush of Thanos. And in that set piece, Captain Marvel makes a strategic move that most fans may have missed.

A keen-eyed Redditor caught that, during Captain Marvel's blitz on the Mad Titan, she plants her boot firmly in his left palm, to prevent him from closing the fist wearing the Infinity Gauntlet. Of course, at the time, the Avengers were unaware that Thanos had "used the Stones to destroy the Stones," so their attack was coordinated around exploiting the one weakness of the most powerful weapon in the galaxy.

To activate and utilize its Infinity Stones, the wielder of the Infinity Gauntlet needs to close their fist. The Avengers exploited the minor vulnerability in Infinity War during their fight with Thanos on Titan. Doctor Strange wrapped the Cloak of Levitation around the Gauntlet, Iron Man fired nano-bots that created a barrier to Thanos closing his hand, and all of the heroes focused their efforts primarily on restraining his left hand.

Of course, they were ultimately successful, and Infinity War ended with the infamous snap that dusted half of all life in the universe. In planning their assault on Thanos, both to seek revenge and to try to save their lost loved ones, the Avengers once again focused on the element of surprise while delaying the threat of the Gauntlet.
