As the clock ticks down to the U.S. opening of Marvel's The Avengers, Yahoo! Movies has premiered a clip of writer-director Joss Whedon providing commentary for the previously released fight scene between Iron Man and Thor.
"People want to see what would happen if -- you know, who's the stronger, who's gonna get it done," he says. "For me the most important thing was making sure the fight was earned, that both of them had an agenda that conflicted with the other's, that it wasn't any spell or case of mistaken identity, or something where you're just waiting for them to figure it out. They both really think they need to win, and neither of them is totally wrong, and that's what makes it more than a fight -- it makes it a conflict."
Opening Friday, The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as the Incredible Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Clark Gregg as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson, Cobie Smulders as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill and Stellan Skarsgård as Dr. Selvig.
