WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Doctor Doom #7, by Cristopher Cantwell, Salvador Larocca, Guru-eFx, and Vc's Cory Petit, on sale now.

There is a black hole on the moon, and Blue Marvel is going to discover what is on the other side in the process of tapping out his powers to close it.

After being framed for a missile attack that killed thousands of people on the moon, Doctor Doom went on the run to clear his name. Along the way, he teamed up with, and was subsequently betrayed by,  Kang the Conqueror. More importantly, Doom discovered that the key to closing the ever-expanding black hole left in the wake of the assault was the hero Blue Marvel, and alerted Reed Richards to the solution.

Doctor Adam Brashear, aka Blue Marvel, first appeared in 2008 in the five-issue miniseries titled Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel by Kevin Grevioux, Kaare Andrews, and Mat Broome. Brashear is a former fullback, Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, and holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics. While he might be a relatively recent addition to the ever-expanding roster of Marvel heroes, Blue Marvel is objectively one of the strongest of them all.

While attempting to harness anti-matter with his friend Conner Sims, an explosion erupted from the Negative Reactor they had constructed to create a bridge between the positive matter universe and the Negative Zone. This exposed both Brashear and Sims to mutagenic radiation, dissolving the latter into pure energy, but turning Brashear into a walking (and stable) anti-matter reactor, one strong enough to go toe-to-toe with the likes of King Hyperion. Aside from invulnerability, flight, and a bevy of other expected powers for a hero of his caliber, Blue Marvel is also able to manipulate matter at a molecular level with a degree of control and precision that is almost unseen across the Marvel Universe. Being able to single-handedly generate a stable event horizon, Blue Marvel is called in to close the black hole and save the moon, and also the world in general. Doing so is a much taller order, though, and Blue Marvel pushes himself to his absolute limit to come out the other side alive.

While Blue Marvel is ultimately able to stop the black hole from expanding any further, as confirmed by the Fantastic Four's robot H.E.R.B.I.E.'s artificial intelligence built into his suit, he isn't able to close it. While it isn't the worst thing that could have happened, Blue Marvel is still trapped on the other side of the black hole with none of his powers at his disposal, completely alone aside from the disembodied voice coming through his helmet. At least, he was alone until one very well-timed Doctor Otto Octavius comes floating through the gaping hole in space in a suit of his own, introducing himself to Brashear and explaining that he was sent of behalf of World Minister Doom to seal the wormhole himself.

With Doctor Doom back on Earth determining who among his innermost circle he can still trust, it might leave readers wondering if this is the Doctor Octopus that we are most familiar with, or if Blue Marvel has just gotten himself stranded in the middle of inter-dimensional shenanigans. All things considered, it shouldn't be too difficult for two of the most talented scientific intellects to find a way out of a black hole, assuming they're both working towards the same goal but knowing Doctor Octopus, that may not necessarily be the case.
