The Marvel Universe has gone through plenty of changes over the years, but relatively few have turned things upside down quite the way that Heroes Reborn has. The new event begins by establishing an all-new reality for the heroes of the Marvel Universe, with Blade being the only person able to remember the world as it should be. Unfortunately, no one else quite believes him, and he is left to find answers on his own, making him not only the most important person in the world but the last Avenger.

Somehow, Blade has found himself on an Earth that is eerily similar to his own, only different in the most unsettling of ways. When he arrived a couple of weeks prior to the beginning of the series, Blade awoke in London, and since then has made his way to Los Angeles after discovering that Avengers Mountain no longer exists. With no friends to call on, the Daywalker can only observe how much different this world is from the one he remembers.

Although there is no team of Avengers present in this new world, many others have flourished in sinister and unexpected ways. Doctor Doom has been imbued with the power of the Gem of Cyttorak to become Doctor Juggernaut, the Red Skull has bonded to the Venom symbiote to become the Black Skull, and Wanda Maximoff absorbed her brother Quicksilver's powers, transforming her into the Silver Witch.

Thankfully, even without the Avengers, there is still one team of superheroes willing and able to fight for truth and justice - the Squadron Supreme. Though this alternate version of Earth's greatest heroes is capable of handling the amalgamated villains wreaking havoc on it, Blade knows that things are worse than they seem, as nothing good could have caused these incredible changes.

After visiting a memorial for Steve Rogers, Blade continues his search for anyone capable of helping him. This means hunting down the Mighty Thor, although the Asgardian neither recalls nor wants to know what the Daywalker is talking about.

Considering the fact that every other Avenger has had their life changed in ways that makes them relatively unapproachable, the only hope Blade has left is to uncover Steve Rogers in the ice for himself. With any luck, doing so will be the first step to restoring a more recognizable Marvel Universe.
