Marvel is about to give the Avengers a hi-tech upgrade in a collaboration with Bandai Spirits.

Tech-On Avengers is born out of a collaboration between Marvel and Bandai Spirits, from writer Jim Zub (ChampionsWayward) and artist Jeff "Chamba" Cruz (Venom: The End, Street Fighter). Tech-On Avengers begins with the Red Skull discovering a mysterious new power that allows him to strip Marvel's heroes of their abilities. Iron Man then designs hi-tech suits for the Avengers to combat the Nazi criminal, which leads to battles with villains that have a similar form of technology.

"I grew up on a steady stream of Japanese animation and tokusatsu-centric stories, so bringing those same sensibilities to Earth's Mightiest Heroes is an absolute rush," Zub said. "The team at Bandai Spirits absolutely crushed it on the hero and villain designs and Chamba is the perfect artist to bring this world to life, with dynamic action art that feels like it popped off the screen and onto the printed page. Tech-On Avengers is bombastic and kinetic, bursting with color and energy. I can't wait for readers and retailers to get on board this wild ride!"

In addition to Zub and Cruz serving as Tech-On Avengers' creative team, manga artist Eiichi Shimizu designed the Avengers' new mech-suits and will provide covers for the series. Shimizu is known as the artist for the Ultraman manga, which follows the son of the original Ultraman as he steps into his father's shoes. Bandai Spirits also plans to release a new line of S.H.Figuarts action figures based on Tech-On Avengers this year.

Tech-On Avengers isn't the only mech-based series featuring Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Marvel is also publishing the Avengers: Mech Strike limited series by Jed MacKay and Carlos Magno, which sees the Avengers donning massive metal suits to battle a strange alien race. Marvel also released a MegaMorphs miniseries in 2005, based on the toyline of the same name by ToyBiz. MegaMorphs featured massive robots bearing the likenesses of Marvel heroes that could also transform into vehicles.

Written by Jim Zub and illustrated by Jeff "Chamba" Cruz with a cover by Eiichi Simizu, Tech-On Avengers goes on sale on Aug. 11 from Marvel Comics.
