Just a short while after revealing early concept art for the Hulkbuster resembling that of Metroid's Samus Aran, former Marvel visual development head Charlie Wen showed off another alternate version of Tony Stark's powerful suit from Avengers: Age of Ultron.
In his Instagram post, Wen writes, "Alternate Hulkbuster concept for Avengers: Age of Ultron. In order to tread on new ground, it’s important to push design further in order to know when it breaks. This was one of the designs that I felt had interesting elements, but overall strayed too far away from iconic Hulkbuster- so never bothered to finish the legs!"
Compared to the final version, the concept strays away from the original by making the suit resemble Iron Man less. The armor is robot-like, with its bulky, streamlined look, while the gold dome cockpit is embedded within it. The maroon dominates with hints of gold placed strategically.
Directed by Joss Whedon, Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as J.A.R.V.I.S/Vision, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, James Spader as Ultron and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. The film is currently available on digital, DVD, Blu-Ray and Ultra HD Blu-Ray.
