In a surprising turn of events, one major Doctor Strange character may be returning for Avengers 4.

During a panel at the Austin Film Festival, in which Marvel screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were in attendance, executive producer Michael Grillo dropped a rather big piece of news regarding Avengers 4. While talking about the crazy experience of filming the still-untitled Avengers 4, Grillo accidentally revealed the name of one cast member that hadn't been officially confirmed to appear previously: Tilda Swinton.

Avengers: Infinity War was a major task to pull off, especially when one considers the scheduling that goes into confirming that a cast of well over 30 actors are available to film as needed. So, it's not entirely surprising that the production for Avengers 4 was as equally -- if not more -- complex. Unfortunately, though, while discussing the availability of actors involved with the film, Grillo managed to confirm that Swinton's role likely would not be a significant one. "When we got Tilda Swinton, she was just a 1-day availability," said Grillo.

As fans will remember, Tilda Swinton's Ancient One, which saw plenty of controversy due to race-bending, met her end ahead of the final battle in Doctor Strange. How or why she'll be brought back remains to be seen. However, with the return of other previously deceased characters like Crossbones and, well, half of the Avengers, it's clear that plenty will be undone one way or another. Of course, given that Swinton was only available for one day of filming, one thing is clear -- it's unlikely the Ancient One will have a major part in the film.
