WARNING: The following article contains major spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War, in theaters now.

Following the heartbreaking end to Avengers: Infinity War, a glimmer of hope was restored thanks to the post-credits scene that heralded the arrival of Brie Larson's Carol Danvers. Now, rumor has it that the intergalactic hero will bring some Skrulls along when she appears in the as-yet untitled Avengers 4.

According to MCU Cosmic, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury actually summoned Danvers at the end of the Russo brothers' film because he thought the Skrulls were invading Earth, thanks in part to the events of the '90s-set Captain Marvel. The rumors also suggest that Hawkeye's time in Tokyo will be spent hunting down Yakuza members, who are none other than shapeshifting Skrulls in disguise.

Now, these alleged plot points should be taken with a grain of salt. So far, we haven't really seen anything that seems to indicate Skrulls will be present in the Infinity War sequel. Also, given that Steve Rogers, Black Widow and so many of Hawkeye's allies are still alive, it's likely he'll learn about Thanos' genocide from them and won't go on some wild goose chase. However, if this is indeed the case and the Skrulls are invading Avengers 4, it's been a pretty-well kept secret.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston, and Josh Brolin. The film is in theaters now.

Helmed by returning directors Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers 4 is due to hit theaters on May 5, 2019.
