After being bested by Thanos earlier this year in Avengers: Infinity War, Iron Man and War Machine may be giving themselves a serious upgrade in terms of weaponry for next year's Avengers 4.

A new set photo has surfaced online, providing a clearer look at what appears to be a proton cannon, a powerful weapon used by both Iron Man and War Machine in the popular crossover fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes first released in 2000.

Set photos of the rumored weapon were first seen briefly in the background in Infinity War at Avengers headquarters with set photos emerging last month showing the massive hardware's return.

Of course, this new weapon could be intended for a different enemy entirely following rumors that the Avengers may be facing something even more powerful than Thanos in the upcoming sequel. Either way, the heroes will need all the firepower they can get.
