Reports suggest that the Russo Brothers' upcoming Avengers 4 may include another comic book creation from legendary writer/artist Jim Starlin.

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe building towards the arrival of Josh Brolin as Thanos since 2012's The Avengers, the Mad Titan finally came to Earth in Avengers: Infinity War and started the events that will close Phase 3 of the franchise. As the creator of Thanos, Starlin was one of the first to pass praise on the 19th MCU movie, however, it now appears that another of his characters could make themselves known in the concluding part of the superhero ensemble.

According to SuperBroMovies, someone else from Starlin's impressive back catalog will make their debut in Avengers 4. Apparently speaking at Puerto Rico Comic Con, Starlin revealed that he will be adding another "created by" credit to his CV when Avengers 4 rolls around next May. Given that Infinity War saw a great number of the series' heroes fall thanks to Thanos' "finger snap" moment, there is plenty of room for some new blood in Avengers 4. Alongside the Brie Larson's Captain Marvel joining the fray, Starlin's creation is guaranteed to be a talking point of the movie.

Considering that Starlin received "created by" for the Drax, Gamora and Thanos in Infinity War, the MCU is giving credit where credit's due when it comes to some of Infinity War's biggest names. While there is nearly a year to go until fans can see whoever this mysterious character is in action, let the guessing games begin on who it might be.

The most obvious choice would be A’lars, the name-dropped character who just happens to be Thanos' father. Infinity War delivered on its promise to make Thanos into a sympathetic villain in line with other recent MCU additions like Vulture and Killmonger. Family was a major part of Infinity War, with Thanos' complicated relationship with Zoe Saldana's Gamora providing some of the movie's most emotional moments. If the Russo Brothers want to expand the family backstory further, the addition of A’lars would up the drama in Avengers 4.

Saldana is confirmed to reprise her role in some capacity, so whether it be a flashback or whether that purple brute will be bringing some characters back from the dead, Thanos' family might get a little bigger next year. Also, with Starlin also creating Thanos' brother Eros and his grandfather Kronos, there is an almost endless list of possibilities.

Other options could set up Adam Warlock with Pip the Troll or go back on the Russo Brothers' previous promise that Lady Death won't appear in Avengers 4. Either way, the lack of any new casting suggests that the role is a top-secret surprise to lure viewers in for Avengers 4.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston, and Josh Brolin. The film is in theaters now.
