Avengers 4 'Leaked' Art Is Intriguing, But Probably Fake

SPOILER WARNING: The following article could contain spoilers for Avengers 4, which hits theaters on May 3, 2019.

New "leaked" artwork from Avengers 4 seems to have made its way onto the Internet. However, there's some evidence to suggest that the images might be fake.

The artwork, which seems to originate on Reddit, shows Iron Man/Tony Stark, Captain America/Steve Rogers, Thor, Hawkeye/Clint Barton, Ant-Man/Scott Lang, Rocket Raccoon, Nebula, Hulk/Bruce Banner and Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff in black, red and grey suits, which some speculate are designed for the Quantum Realm. The original source for these images is unknown and unspecified.

The veracity of the images remains in doubt for a variety of reasons. Although some posters are commenting on the similarities to previously leaked art of Thor and Rocket Racoon, the armor in that image actually differs from that seen here in minor ways. In that old leak, the arms of Thor's suit look very different from what appears here. Additionally, although Rocket Raccoon appears here posing in the same way he did in the earlier leak, the shoulder of his armor didn't feature the Avengers logo. Captain America also appeared in that older leak, but that image was too small to make many meaningful comparisons to this current leak, though the previously-leaked Captain America was wearing his signature helmet.

It's entirely possible that those cosmetic changes have been made since that earlier leak, but the quality of the images still renders them dubious. The heads on several characters, including Black Widow and Thor look weird and disproportionate, with Natasha's head looking particularly large. Additionally, Hulk's body also looks rather small for his head.

Those odd inconsistencies don't necessarily mean that the images are fake. However, the legitimacy of that older leak doesn't mean this leak is real. In making concept art for these suits, Marvel Studios might just have done a poor job of photoshopping the heads of its actors on to these bodies. It also seems likely, based on the old leak of Rocket Raccoon and Thor, that the Avengers will take up suits of this nature in Avengers 4. However, for the time being, these images remain suspect.

The untitled sequel to Avengers: Infinity War will release on May 3, 2019. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Marvel’s Avengers 4 stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie.

UPDATE: Since this article's posting, ComicBook.com has reportedly confirmed that the images are fake.
