Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow, who as Pepper Potts has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its beginning, appeared to inadvertently reveal in December that she dons armor in Avengers 4. Stopping by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday, she was questioned about her role in Infinity War and its untitled sequel, and in the process may have confirmed the fan theory that she'll appear as Rescue from Marvel Comics.

When asked by Colbert whether Pepper still has her powers from Iron Man 3, in which where Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) injected her with his Extremis tech, granting her enhanced strength and agility, Paltrow replied, "To be totally honest, I'm unclear, because it's so secretive, and it's all on green screen, and I'm not exactly sure. And they don't let me say anything."

However, Colbert pressed on, asking, "Is there any chance, at any point when you were working on the movie, did you thrust your hand toward someone wearing, like, a blue suit with ping-pong balls glued on it?" Paltrow answered yes, leading Colbert to gleefully conclude, "Then you still have powers."

Because thrusting out your hands is key to anyone clad in armor, it's a pretty good indication that Paltrow wears some kind of "Iron" suit in one or both of the films.

In the comics, Pepper has donned the Rescue armor multiple times. It's unclear whether she might have employed the suit in the gap between Spider-Man: Homecoming and Infinity War, or if this will be her first outing.

Opening May 4, Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie. The untitled sequel arrives May 3, 2019.
