There are a lot of closely-held secrets about next year's sequel to Avengers: Infinity War, and most fans have learned that they won't get too far trying to squeeze them out of the cast and crew over social media. But perhaps the fans can't be blamed for begging for one relatively innocent bit of information that's still under wraps: the movie's title.Don Cheadle, who plays James Rhodes/War Machine in the movies, has been having some fun on Twitter with this secret. When a fan asked him about the title of Avengers 4, he said, "i shouldn't do this, but because i love you all so much i'll give you a hint. the title will incorporate letters that will be organized in a coherent fashion with the express purpose of communicating to the consumer the content of the film. (i'm [in] so much trouble...)"RELATED: Watch Don Cheadle Relive the Time Mark Ruffalo Spoiled Infinity War

While it seems clear that Cheadle was describing the definition and function of a movie title, even that joke wasn't immune to speculation. Another fan analyzed the tweet and based a new conclusion on it: "You said 'letters' and not 'words,' which means the title is most likely Avengers: Subtitle. One word." He then listed a few possibilities for what that word might be, and thanked Cheadle for the "big hint."

Cheadle, apparently amused enough to stay in the game, came out with another alleged hint: "ok, ok. i'm gonna give you all the biggest hint yet (or is it just information? you be the judge); for one to give a hint about the title, they'd FIRST have to KNOW themselves what the title IS. which i don't. so ..." He even added, "(i wouldn't spend too much time trying to decode this one)." Ironically, this tweet actually does reveal something -- the title is a secret even from some of the actors.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, fans did not take this as a sign to give up. The next response came in the form of an image of Cheadle's tweet printed out and marked up with notes and mathematical equations, a classic portrayal of conspiracy theory in action. The hilarious page of paranoid ramblings, which circles words and phrases and tries to connect them with elements of the movies, was accompanied by the simple message: "You're. Making. It. Worse."

In spite of everything, Cheadle has managed not only to keep whatever secrets he does know, but to remain a good sport about it. His response to the conspiracy theory? "i actually love this..."
