Avengers 4 Directors Refuse to Answer Questions About Trailer

Those of us who were hoping for the release of the Avengers 4 teaser trailer on Wednesday night were, alas, in for some disappointment. It was widely speculated the first footage of the Marvel Studios might debut during a special screening of Avengers: Infinity War, complete with Q&A with directors Joe and Anthony Russo, but the event came and went with no sneak peek.

However, it didn't take long for someone in the audience to ask the Russos when the Avengers 4 trailer would be released. And, in answer, the filmmakers s had nothing to say.

Instead, Joe Russo simply took out his phone, and played the sound of an air horn repeatedly, which prompted laughter from the audience. Then, it was on to the next question.

It's clear that both brothers knew exactly that the question would be coming, which is why they prepared that little number. But this also begs the question: what is Marvel planning, exactly? Clearly, the studio knows that fans are eager to see the film's first trailer and yet, it's remaining silent and coy about the whole thing.

The teaser trailer of Avengers: Infinity War was released one year ago today, on Nov. 29, 2017, which leads many to believe that the first glimpse at Avengers 4 is imminent. However, there have been rumblings that Marvel may be employing a different approach in marketing the highly-anticipated film, which means that we might have a long wait ahead of us until the first footage of the film is released.

If one thing is certain, it's that withholding that trailer is working in Marvel's favor: everyone is talking about it. Perhaps silence really is all the marketing Avengers 4 needs.

The untitled sequel to Avengers: Infinity War will release on May 3, 2019. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Marvel’s Avengers 4 stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie.
