Avengers: Infinity War has come and gone and, with it, Marvel has proven that they aren't afraid to shake the very foundations of the MCU and its rules. With the movie came the re-appearance of many familiar characters who were given different looks in the movie. Now that Thanos has officially won, half the universe is gone, and Peter Parker doesn't feel so good, the remaining heroes have to work together to take the fight to the Mad Titan and inevitably win the day. With Avengers 4 on the way, we expect that many of the characters will be given different looks for the movie, whether it be the result of a new appearance or a completion of an arc. These characters have a lot of new challenges to face in the film, with many of them having lost their best friends in the process.

As such, there are several characters that we think deserve certain costume changes. In order to symbolize their final confrontation with Thanos, having new looks would add to the feeling of triumph that we, as the audience, should feel with the film. On top of that, some characters are just overdue for a change in costume. However, there are also some characters that we don't think should have a costume change. Whether they recently got an appearance change or don't have a specific arc to give good reason for a new outfit, they're not quite as deserving in our opinion. With that said, here are 10 characters we hope have a new look in Avengers 4 and 10 characters we hope stay the same.

19 NEW LOOK: HULK

infinity war hulk

Hulk has been going through an arc that started with Thor: Ragnarok. Banner and Hulk have been at war with each other, learning how to balance their separate personalities. In Avengers: Infinity War, Hulk was beaten by Thanos and refused to come out for the duration of the movie.

For Avengers 4, we imagine that the Hulk is finally going to appear once more, but he should have a different outfit to symbolize the completion of his arc. There is talk about him getting an outfit reminiscent of his "Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." run in the comics, and we'd be all for it.

18  UNCHANGED: THOR

Thor has gone through a serious change since Thor: Ragnarok. Not only was his long hair and hammer taken away, but he's been given the opportunity to be more compelling. In Avengers: Infinity War, he went through another radical transformation that gave him a cape, the Stormbreaker axe, and and a much cleaner outfit.

Going into Avengers 4, Thor certainly doesn't need any more costume changes, having already been one of the most altered Avengers to date. Changing him yet again would almost make the latter movie feel pointless by comparison. Besides, Marvel would be hard pressed to find a way to make him even stronger.

17 NEW LOOK: IRON MAN

Iron Man Avengers Infinity WAr

Tony Stark had a sweet new Bleeding Edge armor in time for Avengers: Infinity War. However, he lost almost all of that gear when he took on Thanos in a one-versus-one brawl. Being stranded on Titan with only Nebula, we'd wager that he should come up with a new idea for a suit to finally take the fight to Thanos.

Whether it come in the form of a "Thanos Buster" armor or something like the Deep Space suit, Stark is due for an upgrade. After all, he has been given a new suit for all of his movie appearances to date, and Avengers 4 should be no different.

16 UNCHANGED: STAR-LORD

infinity war star-lord

Star-Lord went through one of the most emotional arcs in Avengers: Infinity War. While he and Gamora had finally begun their relationship, he was forced to deal with having to potentially kill her due to the arrival of Thanos. Unfortunately, she ended up passing away anyway so that the Mad Titan could get the Soul Stone.

Going into Avengers 4, we bet that Quill will have experienced some growth as a character. However, he has never been one to get any drastically different appearance changes. We don't personally believe that there is much that could be done to change Star-Lord's design, so we'd like him to stay the same.

15 NEW LOOK: CAPTAIN AMERICA

After leaving his country at the end of Captain America: Civil War, Steve Rogers let go of his patriotic mantle and became a version of "Nomad." However, after losing most of his friends in Avengers: Infinity War and having to team up with the old team for Avengers 4, we feel that now is the time to have him triumphantly return to his identity of Captain America.

After all, Tony Stark would know where the iconic shield is anyway, so it makes sense that the two reuniting would signify the return of the Star Spangled Avenger. It would also be a great moment to see Cap leading such a massive team of Avengers.

14 UNCHANGED: DOCTOR STRANGE

Doctor Strange is a character that doesn't need a lot of costume changes. Between his appearances in Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers: Infinity War, the only major costume changes he had involved his yellow gloves in the third Thor movie. Considering that he's not going through any particular arc as of right now, there's no reason to give him a new look.

By the time Infinity War takes place, Strange is already the Sorcerer Supreme and has gone through a full arc in his solo film. On top of that, it would likely be distracting if he suddenly had a wardrobe change.

13 NEW LOOK: ANT-MAN

Ant-Man in Ant-Man and the Wasp

Ant-Man was surprisingly absent in Avengers: Infinity War. While it was explained that he wasn't a part of the Avengers anymore and he was under house arrest, there was another reason why he didn't appear in the film (as revealed by Ant-Man and the Wasp).

Going into his return in Avengers 4, it's likely that his adventures will play a big role in defeating Thanos. With his potential larger role in the movie, we think that he could undergo some costume changes, whether it be in the form of a color change or some additions made to the suit itself.

12 UNCHANGED: BLACK PANTHER

black panther and warriors ready to fight in the MCU

Black Panther had a fairly iconic look for Captain America: Civil War that was upgraded in time for Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War. Considering that the King of Wakanda doesn't quite have that big of a role in Infinity War and was one of the ones who disappeared, it's likely he won't have a large role in Avengers 4 either.

Because of this, there isn't much reason to give him a costume change. Unless he, out of nowhere, had a bigger role in the film or began some sort of new arc, then it there would be cause for a new look. Otherwise, he should stay the same.

11 NEW LOOK: SPIDER-MAN

Avengers Infinity War Iron Spider

When it comes to characters who were turned to dust, we believe that most of them shouldn't have costume changes. The only possible exception to that rule would be Spider-Man. Already given the Iron Spider suit for Avengers: Infinity War, his appearance in Avengers 4 will either mark the return of his suit that debuted in Captain America: Civil War, or a new iconic suit.

A character as popular as Peter Parker has so many different costumes that the MCU could easily draw from. If any character who isn't that important to the story got a new costume, it would be Spider-Man.

10 UNCHANGED: WINTER SOLDIER

After finishing his time as a weapon of HYDRA thanks to the efforts of the people of Wakanda, the Winter Soldier has finally embraced his status as a superhero. Coupled with a new vibranium arm, he is referred to as the "White Wolf" by the locals of Wakanda.

Already being given a new appearance for Avengers: Infinity War, it's unlikely that he'll get a new look for Avengers 4. After all, he was always a character there to play off of Captain America. His arc has already come full circle and he's helping fight the good fight. Furthermore, he was one of the characters who turned into dust.

9 NEW LOOK: THANOS

Thanos in Infinity War

Despite what his previous appearances in the MCU teased, Thanos had a humble look in Avengers: Infinity War where he mostly didn't wear his armor. This costume was meant to symbolize his journey in the film and how he believed in what he was doing.

Now that he accomplished his goal and "saved" the universe in his eyes, it's time for Thanos to have a new appearance in Avengers 4. His journey is complete and, at that point, he would just be defending everything he had created in the last movie. A new look might be a great way of signifying the completion of his arc.

8 UNCHANGED: THE WASP

The Wasp was finally officially brought into the MCU with Ant-Man and the Wasp. Working with Ant-Man, it has already been confirmed that she will already be returning in Avengers 4. While it's possible that Ant-Man could get a wardrobe change, we're not sure that Wasp deserves the same treatment.

She doesn't have any serious development moments (as far as we know) and is a character that is always connected to Ant-Man. Giving her any significant design changes would feel "out of nowhere." There has to be a proper reason, and there doesn't seem to be one for her.

7 NEW LOOK: ROCKET

Rocket went through a powerful arc in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 where he had to learn to let himself love others. After finally accepting his family, he lost all of them in a matter of seconds in Avengers: Infinity War. The only Guardian of the Galaxy to survive the finger snap, Rocket will likely go through a lot of growth on his own.

With this, it's possible that we could get an appearance change in Avengers 4. It could, perhaps, be an outfit that is closer to his comic book design. Regardless, the events of Infinity War will have a drastic affect Rocket.

6 UNCHANGED: SCARLET WITCH

MCU Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch and Vision were trying to live their lives quietly in Avengers: Infinity War. Unfortunately, the fact that Vision was sporting the Mind Stone in his forehead meant that the two were always going to be targeted. Their story ends when Scarlet Witch shatters the Stone, killing him, only to have Thanos reverse time, rip the Stone out of Vision's head, and kill him again.

Going into Avengers 4, we're not sure what's going to come of her. She disappeared with the snap. Arguably, there's no reason to change her costume. If Vision comes back, even less so. We don't think she should be altered.

5 NEW LOOK: VISION

The Vision had the most agony in Avengers: Infinity War. Not only was he hunted and stabbed by the Children of Thanos, but he was killed twice. If he comes back for Avengers 4, it would make sense that his resurrection would signify a new costume.

After all, he likely would operate without the use of the Mind Stone if he were to come back to life, so it would almost require that he get a physical upgrade. That said, this is all assuming that Vision gets brought back to life. After Thanos did his work, we doubt that even Shuri could bring him back.

4 UNCHANGED: NEBULA

Nebula piloting a spaceship in the MCU

Nebula's arc has always been related to Gamora and Thanos. Now that Gamora is gone and her father having done unspeakable things to her, we imagine that Nebula is in a more broken state than ever. However, Nebula has not gone through any physical changes in the MCU apart from a few upgrades in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.

She is a character that will look perpetually disfigured as an echo of Thanos. While it's possible she could change due to Gamora's death, we don't think that it would fit her character much. She might get some quality-of-life improvements thanks to being with Stark, but that's about it.

3 NEW LOOK: HAWKEYE

Hawkeye is a character that has subtly changed since his time in The Avengers. He is slowly sporting more purple as Marvel tries to make him stand out from the rest of the superheroes. Going into Avengers 4, there's a lot of talk that he will be sporting his "Ronin" costume from the comics.

Regardless, it is extremely necessary that this Avenger gets an update for the new movie. Not only does the character deserve one following his absence from Avengers: Infinity War, but it would go along with the other five main Avengers having different designs going into the movie.

2 UNCHANGED: FALCON

Anthony-Mackie-Falcon-Civil-War

Falcon is one of those characters that is always a supporting hero. He's not quite popular enough to headline his own movie nor has he ever been made important beyond fighting Ant-Man and working alongside Captain America. While he has been given some much-needed improvements as of Captain America: Civil War, like Redwing and wing shields, there isn't much reason for him to have more changes.

Furthermore, he was one of the characters who disappeared after Thanos snapped his fingers, suggesting that he won't have that big of a role in Avengers 4, which negates the need for him to have an appearance change.

1 NEW LOOK: BLACK WIDOW

Thor got a major look upgrade in Avengers: Infinity War. Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, and Hawkeye are all speculated to have physical changes of their own for Avengers 4. The only one who needs any more improvements to their look would be Black Widow.

While she does sport a different design in the movie, Avengers 4 could Marvel's opportunity to finally give her a look more akin to the comics (even making use of her logo). Of all the main Avengers, she is likely the one who deserves an upgrade the least, but we still think that she should have one with the rest of the team.
