Benedict Wong, who is set to star in the upcoming Marvel Studios film Avengers 4, has shared a rather peculiar photo from the set of the movie on his Instagram account.

The picture features Wong sitting in a makeup chair as the special effects team makes some sort of replica of the skin and hair on Wong's head. What exactly this is for, however, is anyone's guess at the moment.

The most likely answer is this effect will tie into the frequently-bizarre and reality-altering magic practiced by Wong's character. However, given that speculation has been rampant ever since it was first announced the upcoming Captain Marvel would be adding Skrulls to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, some fans in the comments section of Wong's post suggest such an effect may point to the character secretly being one of the shapeshifting aliens. Once again, however, we'll simply have to wait and see.

Wong made his debut as the character also known as Wong in 2016's Doctor Strange. He then reprised his role alongside Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange in Avengers: Infinity War, with his exact fate being left in the air following Thanos' now-infamous snap. However, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson has previously stated Wong would have a "strong presence" in the MCU moving forward.
