When Jason Aaron and Ed McGuinness launch Marvel Comics' new Avengers series in May, the comic will actually tell the story of two teams.
The first, and likely more prominent team will be a new line-up that sees Captain America, Thor and Iron Man joined by Black Panther, She-Hulk, Ghost Rider, Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange. However, there's a solid contingent of fans who may be just as excited for the series due to its secondary team: the Avengers of 1,000,000 B.C.
Both teams feature in the first look at the new series, (debuting via IGN), and while much of the prehistoric Avengers team closely resembles Esad Ribic's depiction in the Marvel Legacy one-shot, we noticed that the original Starbrand looks less caveman and more Hulk. A coincidence? Perhaps -- but it would be a nice nod to the founding team of modern day Avengers to learn that one of their forefathers shares some incredible similarities with Bruce Banner's gamma-fueled alter ego.
