A recently released behind-the-scenes photo shows star Sigourney Weaver on the set of Avatar's highly anticipated sequels.The photo shows Weaver standing in the set for link station, Site 26. "From the set of the Avatar sequels: Producer Jon Landau, Sigourney Weaver, and Joel David Moore revisited the Site 26 Shack to shoot scenes for the new films."

Praised for its beautiful sets and impressive CGI, 2009's Avatar introduced viewers to the world of Pandora, a lush planet inhabited by the Na'vi. In the film, Weaver played Dr. Grace Augustine, a scientist who helped teach the Na'vi to speak English.

Two Avatar sequels are currently in development, with filming on both having begun in 2017. James Cameron will be returning to write, direct and produce both, and two more are slated to follow.

Not much has been revealed about Avatar 2, though it will show the return of most of the original's main cast. The film will also add several new characters, including a free-diver named Ronal played by Kate Winslet and marine biologist Dr. Ian Garvin played by Jermaine Clement.

Written and directed by James Cameron, Avatar 2 stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Edie Falco, Kate Winslet, Oona Chaplin, Vin Diesel, Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis. The film is slated to release Dec. 17, 2021, followed by Avatar 3 in Dec. 2023, Avatar 4 in Dec. 2025, and Avatar 5 in Dec. 2027.
