While Avatar 2 and Avatar 3's production schedules were halted because of coronavirus (COVID-19), filming is set to resume again next week.

Producer Jon Landau posted on Instagram to let fans know what was going on, writing, "Our Avatar sets are ready — and we couldn’t be more excited to be headed back to New Zealand next week."

The set picture is similar to others released for the film so far. It features two different boats, which Landau explains are "the Matador, a high speed forward command vessel (bottom) and the Picador jetboat (top)." Many other on-set pictures have shown actors filming in large pools, so this is on theme with the underwater-focused feel for the long-awaited sequels.

While Avatar was released in 2009, production on Avatar 2 and 3 didn't begin until fall 2017. With nearly three years of production and filming so far, it's been a long wait for fans.
