Aubrey Plaza discussed joining the cast of Agatha: Coven of Chaos and getting to work opposite Kathryn Hahn again after Parks and Recreation.

On Backstage's In the Envelope: The Actor's Podcast, Plaza was asked about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "It's all coming together for me with this part," she said. "Kathryn Hahn, she's a friend of mine; I've known her for years. We shared a couple moments onscreen in Parks and Recreation 10 years ago, but I've never gotten to work with her, really. She's one of the most incredible actresses that's working today. She's a friend of mine. She speaks my language. To be able to get on screen with her and go toe-to-toe with her is what's driving me. I think it's cool that it's Marvel and all that, but I'm really just interested to work with Kathryn Hahn."

Plaza starred as sardonic intern April Ludgate across all seven seasons of Parks and Rec, while Hahn made guest appearances as savvy political operative Jennifer Barkley. She would go on to star in shows like Prime's Transparent, HBO's Mrs. Fletcher and Apple TV's Central Park. Hahn joined the MCU in WandaVision as Agatha Harkness, a centuries-old witch who attempted to steal Wanda Maximoff's power and wound up revealing her destiny as the Scarlet Witch. A spinoff starring Agatha was announced as in development in October 2021.

The Cast of Agatha: Coven of Chaos Is Growing

In addition to Hahn and Plaza, Coven of Chaos will see the return of Emma Caufield Ford as Sarah Proctor, a Westview resident who played neighborhood busybody Dottie Jones in Wanda's sitcom fantasy. Also joining the cast are Sasheer Zamata, Eric Andre and Joe Locke in undisclosed roles. Locke's character is described as "a gay teen with a dark sense of humor," leading some fans to speculate that he'll be playing a new iteration of one of Wanda's superpowered children, Billy Maximoff/Wiccan. The character was played by Julian Hillard as a pre-teen in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Agatha isn't the only WandaVision character to get a spinoff. Marvel recently announced a new project, Vision Quest, which will see Paul Bettany return as the recently resurrected synthezoid Vision as he tries to recover his memories and regain his humanity. Jac Schaeffer, head writer for both WandaVision and Coven of Chaos, will return to showrun the new series. It was also teased that Elizabeth Olsen may return as Wanda, though given the characters' apparent death in Multiverse of Madness, it's unknown what form her comeback will take.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is expected to air in late 2023 on Disney+.
