Eren might not like it, but without Mikasa, he surely would have ended up dead on a number of different occasions. Since the first season of Attack on Titan it has been made very clear that Eren needs Mikasa in order to keep up his tough guy attitude. Although the most recent and final season of the anime has proven that Eren is more than capable of protecting himself, he still needs Mikasa to pull him out of harm's way when things really get heated.

10 Mikasa Keeps The War Hammer Titan Busy While Eren Figures Out How To Win

Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 2 War Hammer Titan

The entirety of Eren's plan to attack Marley preemptively relies on him being able to dispatch of the War Hammer Titan as quickly as possible. Even just the slightest delay in his victory over Lara Tyber brought on the wrath of the Jaw Titan and nearly got Eren killed.

Eren was the one that figured out how to defeat the War Hammer Titan, but if Mikasa hadn't arrived at the perfect time to threaten Lara Tyber's titan, he never would have been able to survive this battle. It is only thanks to Mikasa's brilliant use of the new ODM gear that Eren was given the opening he needed to survive his battle with the War Hammer Titan.

9 Mikasa Keeps Eren's Fighting Spirit Alive By Helping Him Stand Up To His Childhood Bullies

Mikasa, Eren, and Armin

Though some might try to downplay the impact of a childhood bully, this sort of behavior can cripple a child/teenager's confidence. In the world of Attack on Titan, an Eren without confidence is a dead Eren.

Outside viewers might question whether Eren's life was truly at risk when he stood up to the bullies that taunted him and Armin as children. Who knows what kind of person Eren would have turned out to be if Mikasa hadn't aided him in standing up to his bullies. Perhaps he wouldn't have had the strength that he has needed to keep his titan abilities from the bullies that run the Marleyan Empire.

8 Mikasa & Levi Defeated Annie In The Forest

Levi Mikasa Attack on Titan

Eren Yeager might put on a tough face, but when he was learning to master his titan abilities he often hesitated before embracing the Attack Titan's power. One example of this hesitation comes during the scout's first battle with the Female Titan. Eren chooses to trust in his allies and delays his titan transformation until the very last minute. Once he finally transforms, Annie's more experienced Female Titan quickly overpowers him.

If it weren't for the actions of Mikasa and Levi, Eren surely would have been defeated, captured, and eventually killed by the Marleyan Empire that desperately seek to control the power of the Founding Titan.

7 Mikasa Stops The Jaw Titan From Breaking Through Eren's Hardening Ability

The Jaw Titan in AoT

Mikasa's help during Eren's attack on Marley didn't end with Eren's victory over the War Hammer Titan. Even after Lara Tyber is separated from her titan, Eren struggles to steal her abilities due to the powerful crystalline shell she was able to build around herself.

In order for Eren to break through this shell, he needed Mikasa and the rest of the scouts to hold off the Cart Titan and Jaw Titan. The Jaw Titan was especially dangerous because of its ability to bite through Eren's hardening ability. Luckily, Mikasa was there to keep the Jaw Titan busy so that Porco couldn't figure out how to break through Eren's defenses.

6 Mikasa Knocks Some Sense Into Eren After He Insulted Armin

The moment Mikasa drops Eren for insulting Armin in the second episode of the anime may not seem like the actions of a savior, but considering how many times Armin's brain saved Eren's life, this moment is worth digging into more deeply.

Without Mikasa's interference, Eren may have continued to spiral to the point of destroying his life long friendship with Armin. Without Armin by his side, Eren would have been killed before he even had the chance to master the power of the Attack Titan.

5 Mikasa & The Scouts Save Eren After He Is Captured By Reiner & Bertholdt

The scouts standing on Reiner and persuading Bertholdt into giving Eren back.

The Armored Titan and Colossal Titan tormented Eren and Mikasa throughout the first three seasons of Attack on Titan. It isn't given away until season two that Reiner and Bertholdt are the titan shifters behind these two monsters, but when the truth is revealed, they manage to overcome Eren's Attack Titan and nearly escape Paradis Island with him as their captive.

If Reiner and Bertholdt had escaped with Eren, the Marleyan Government would have killed him the second they found a candidate to inherit the Attack and Founding Titans. If Mikasa and the rest of the scouts weren't able to save Eren, his life may as well have been forfeit.

4 When Mikasa Awakened Her Ackerman Abilities As A Child

Though fans have had the opportunity to see the Ackerman's power of awakening on a number of different occasions, none of them are as dramatic as the first time Mikasa awakens her strength and shatters the floorboards beneath her feet.

When Mikasa's parents are killed by roaming slavers, Eren comes to her rescue. In perfect Eren fashion, his heroism falls just short of success and puts him in a near death scenario that Mikasa has to save him from. If Mikasa hadn't chosen to fight in this moment, Eren would have died before any of the main events took place in Attack on Titan.

3 Mikasa & The Scouts Offer Eren An Escape Route After He Attacks Marley

Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 6 Eren Mikasa

Eren's narcissism in the final season of Attack on Titan seems to know no bounds. Before he burst through a building and killed hundreds of innocent Eldians, he had no way of knowing that Mikasa or the rest of the scouts would show up to offer him any help.

Even though it is clear that Eren had no way of surviving his preemptive attack without the help of his allies, he still went through with his plans anyway. If Mikasa hadn't shown up, Eren would have been stranded in the middle of enemy territory with a target on his back so big that not even his incredible titan abilities could have saved him.

2 Mikasa Defeated Kenny Ackerman's Troops & Freed Eren From Rod Reiss' Chains

Mikasa Kicks a Military Police Officer - Attack on Titan

The third season of Attack on Titan turns the tables on its heroes by using humans as antagonists rather than the titans. The combined forces of Rod Reiss and Kenny Ackerman are nearly enough to defeat Eren, Levi, and Mikasa.

Fortunately, Historia Reiss sees through her father's corruption and comes to Eren's aid when he needs her most. Without Mikasa's heroics, Kenny Ackerman's forces would have never been defeated and Eren would have died in chains when Rod Reiss turned into the biggest titan fans have ever seen.

1 Mikasa Cleared A Path For Eren To Plug The Hole In Trost District

mikasa and her blade attack on titan

Armin may have been the one to verbally clear the way for Eren to prove that his Titan ability was not a threat to humanity during the Battle of Trost District arc, but if it hadn't been for Mikasa's efforts on the front lines, Eren never could have been able to plug the hole in Trost.

Even after Eren attacked Mikasa in titan form, she committed her efforts to protecting him from the titans that had invaded Trost. Once Eren regained control, Mikasa cleared a path for him so that he could reseal the wall surrounding Trost. If she hadn't aided Eren in this moment, he certainly would have been killed by the people inside the walls before he ever got the chance to master his titan abilities.
