Historia Reiss is the daughter of Rod Reiss and the last known surviving member of the Reiss family in the world of Attack on Titan. She went by the name of Krista Lenz through nearly half of the series due to having renounced her claims to the Reiss heritage.

Being a person with royal blood, it's no surprise that Historia is one of the most important characters in the series. In fact, she's currently serving as the Queen of the Walls, which makes her an influential leader as well. Here are 10 things that you probably didn't know about Attack on Titan's Historia Reiss.

10 Her Fate

Historia in AOT

Historia, being the illegitimate child of Rod Reiss, was initially supposed to have died. This was planned when she was made to renounce all her claims to the Reiss heritage and then given the identity of Krista Lenz.

Although she was told to lead a new life, it was supposed to be very short as she had to enter the military service, which was believed to eventually kill her. Thanks to the protection that her friends, such as Ymir offered, Historia was saved from a tragic fate that could've easily wiped away the total bloodline for good.

9 Her Rank In Training Corps

Historia joined the training corps to serve in the military shortly after she was ordered to live a new life. Although she didn't have much talent initially, Historia was able to show drastic improvements later on and even acquire the 10th highest rank in the training corps.

This was largely due to the help and support that she received from Ymir, someone who had kept a close watch on her and helped her out on various occasions. After this, Historia joined the site Survey Corps where her life turned upside down for good.

8 Titan Kills

Although Historia isn't as good as the rest of her Survey Corps friends, she's strong enough to kill a Titan, at the very least. Over the course of the series, Historia has managed to bring down three of the massive Titans. When it comes to solo kills, Historia has managed to kill only one of them.

In a group, Historia seems to be slightly better as she's managed to kill two Titans when in a team. This seems to indicate that Historia is very good at cooperating with others, especially when they're people she knows, such as Ymir, or Eren.

7 Angel

Historia Smile

Historia's appearance earned her the title of 'Angel' and 'Goddess' among her classmates, according to whom she was way too cute for a human. As per her character design, Historia has a heart-shaped face, which goes to show why she was treated like a goddess, to begin with.

This could further have been a hint by Hajime Isayama towards Historia being someone of huge importance, and perhaps even a character with a connection to the royal bloodline. At the time, few were able to predict it, however.

6 Her Kindness

Historia is noted to be an extremely kind person, the likes of which can do no wrong by nearly everyone in the series. While a part of her is kind because that's just how she is, the other part feels that she should act that way in order to earn the esteem of others.

In her mind, Historia feels that she needs to earn the esteem of others that she was denied as a child since she was isolated most of the time. This was noted by Ymir, the person who Historia considered to be her benefactor.

5 Her Real Nature

While her persona of Krista Lenz is supposed to be kind, cute, and shy, that's not who Historia really is. Krista Lenz is just an alias that she takes and nothing more. According to her, the real Historia is vacant on the inside. She doesn't seem to feel much and doesn't know when and how to act when put in some situations.

While she doesn't think too highly of her real side, according to Eren Yeager, she is much more original this way and 'less creepy' as well. According to Historia, however, she lacks an identity. With time, this changes as Historia finds herself developing a kind and smart identity.

4 Interactions With Her Mother

As a child, Historia had a habit of reading books from which she learned lots of things. Interestingly, she loved the books that depicted how relationships between a parent and a child should be. Wanting to interact with her mother in a similar way, Historia was slapped away when she tried to hug her.

While she did get hurt, Historia was actually happy that she got to interact with her mother for the first time, despite finding out the cruel things that her mother truly felt about her. Historia barely ever saw her mother after this incident, although this event remained etched in her memories.

3 Her Statistics

Historia _ Uncertain _ Attack on Titan

Just like every other character in Hajime Isayama's manga, Historia has her own set of official statistics released by the author. According to her stats, she has a 6/10 combat ability, and a similar rating in terms of initiative as well. When it comes to wits, Historia has a rating of just 4/10, which is largely due to her scarred past.

Interestingly, Historia does have some praiseworthy strengths as well. According to the databook, she has an incredible 8/10 in teamwork, which has been seen in the series a couple of times already, and a 10/10 in altruism, which isn't shocking in the slightest.

2 The Meaning Of Her Name

As expected of someone like Hajime Isayama, the name she chose for this particular character isn't something whimsical. Her name carries rather significant meaning as 'Historia'  literally translates to 'History'. What's more, her alias of 'Krista' is Greek for 'she who is anointed'.

Interestingly, in Hebrew, 'he who is anointed' is 'the messiah', which just goes to show how big Krista's character was always supposed to be. There's no doubt that Isayama had great plans for her right from the beginning of the series.

1 Her Importance

historia reiss

As evident from all the other facts in this article, Historia is one of the most important characters in the entire Attack on Titan series. Not only is she the Queen of the Walls but she's also someone upon whose shoulders the fate of Paradis Island rests.

Interestingly enough, Historia is the only character in the entire story who has two chapters named after them. This just goes to show how big a role she plays in Attack on Titan.
