Delays contributed to an almost three year wait between the first two seasons of the immensely popular anime Attack on Titan, which returned in April with a reduced episode count. Barring further delays, the wait for Attack on Titan Season 3 won't be as long, with the series set to come back in July 2018.

Based on Hajime Isayama's best-selling manga of the same name, Attack on Titan is set in a world where what remains of humanity lives in cities surrounded by enormous walls designed to keep out the gigantic, flesh-eating monsters known as Titans. The series follows Eren Yeager, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman, their friend Armin Arlert and numerous other characters as they attempt to defend their world and learn more about the Titans. While the anime has been slow to produce episodes, there are already 21 published volumes of the manga, with more than 63 million copies in print worldwide. Kodansha USA publishes the series in North America.

Since its debut in 2009, the incredibly popular franchise has grown to include video games, spinoff novels, a parody manga and anime, and a live-action film adaptation; there's even an Attack on Titan wine.
