Virtually every day brings a new rumor about the second season of "Attack on Titan" -- seriously, just search Google News -- but we now may have the next-best thing to official word on the status of the blockbuster anime series. Spoiler warning: It's probably not going to make you happy.
As fans have long feared, it looks as if Season 2 will missed its announced 2016 premiere date. According to Spanish streaming and home-video distributor SelectaVisión, the date has been moved to 2017 -- although perhaps as early as January of that year.
Produced by Wit Studio, the adaptation of Hajime Isayama's bestselling manga concluded its first season on Sept. 29, 2013. The episodes were later compiled for theatrical release as two films: "Attack on Titan - Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow" and "Attack on Titan - Part 2: Wings of Freedom."
Production I.G. also adapted the comedy spinoff "Attack on Titan: Junior High," which debuted last fall.
