Publisher Kodansha has released a new trailer to promote the upcoming release of Attack on Titan's final volume.

The new trailer was released on the official Kodansha YouTube channel and provides a preview of what happens to Eren, Mikasa and the rest of the Attack on Titan crew during the manga's conclusion. The final volume will be released on Oct. 19. As was previously announced, three retailers will sell special edition versions of the final volume on its release day: Books-A-Million will get a special variant cover drawn by series creator Hajime Isayama himself, Kinokuniya stores in the U.S. will receive a different variant cover and a free shikishi art board, while the Barnes and Noble edition will feature an exclusive poster of Mikasa Ackerman.

The final, divisive chapter of Attack on Titan was published in Japan in April and drew a mixed reaction from critics and  fans of the series, with some feeling that the series' end beautifully tied into its original chapter, while others criticized the rushed pacing and sharp turns in characterization that occurred towards the end of the story. Some fans have even gone as far as to redraw and potentially re-animate the manga's final chapters to create a supposedly more satisfying conclusion.

Regardless of the controversy surrounding the ending,  Attack on Titan remains one of the most popular anime and manga franchises in the world, with over 100 million copies in circulation worldwide. Attack on Titan debuted in 2009 with was created by Hajime Isayama, and was released by Kodansha after Japan's premiere manga magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump, passed on the chance to publish the title. The series has also seen numerous spin-offs and novelizations, been the basis for several video games, and was adapted into two live-action Japanese movies. A live-action American remake from Warner Bros. is currently in production.

In August, animation studio MAPPA confirmed that the anime series would return for the second half of its final season in January. The premiere of the final set of episodes will be preceded by a new re-cap special, which will feature Eren, Mikasa and Annie discussing the events of the series so far. The first three seasons of the anime, as well as part 1 of Season 4, are currently available for streaming on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Funimation.
