The Attack on Titan series is best known for the height contrast between heroes and villains. Whether taking down mindless monstrosities or the viciously intelligent shifters sent by the Marleyan state, the Scouts have no shortage of enemies to defeat.
It may come as a surprise that there is a stark disparity in height within the heroes' own ranks. Through listing their measurements and ranking them from shortest to tallest, we gain a better understanding of the characters who stand out in spite of - or due to - their statures.
10 Christa Lenz/Historia Reiss Is 4'7
Historia is the shortest adult member of the cast among both heroes and villains. At an unassuming 4'7, her stature has frequently been commented on by both admirers and superiors.
Nonetheless, she has proven herself through her heroics and willingness to reclaim her identity when seizing the throne of her father. With Ymir's encouragement, Historia has realized her potential as the rightful queen of Paradis and one of the few remaining Eldians to possess royal blood. This made her an exceptionally dangerous threat to Marley when combined with Eren's Founding Titan.
9 Levi Ackerman Is 5'2
Levi's stature has frequently been the butt of jokes by comrades and enemies alike. Kenny Ackerman particularly enjoyed commenting on it, often referring to the Scout Captain as a "runt" throughout the Rod Reiss arc.
However, Levi's shorter stature is not entirely due to his genetics. Since he grew up malnourished in Paradis' underbelly, his growth was stunted until his uncle took him in. Fortunately, it has not impeded his ability to fight. To the contrary, it has arguably enhanced it when battling larger opponents (such as the Beast and Jaw Titans).
8 Armin Arlelt Is 5'5
At five feet and five inches tall, Armin's diminutive stature and pacifistic outlook made him the subject of bullying throughout his youth. Fortunately, it attracted the attention of Eren and Mikasa, who served as his makeshift guardians and closest friends ever since.
Despite lacking the physical prowess of many other Titan Shifters, Armin was a tremendous asset to the Scouts. His tactical mind helped to reveal the Warriors' secret identities and defeat them during the battle for Paradis. Additionally, he was such a skilled diplomat that he managed to lure Annie into a trap, which in turn forced her to reveal her identity as the Female Titan.
7 Hange Zoe Is 5'5
The skilled and inventive Hange Zoe stood at five feet and five inches tall. Although they were not particularly bigger than the rest of the cast, they enjoyed poking fun at Levi for his stature and especially how it contrasted his serious demeanor.
Although Hange seldom participated in the Scouts' missions directly, they were invaluable to the reclamation of Paradis. For example, the creation of thunder spears helped to bring down Reiner during the second battle for Shiganshina and even saved Eren from being killed by Lara Tybur in Liberio. This was why Erwin found it appropriate to appoint Hange as the Scouts' next commander.
6 Sasha Braus Is 5'6
As a rugged outdoorsman and gifted archer, Sasha's athletic prowess was remarkable. She stood at five feet and six inches, making her one of the most recognizable members in the Scouts' ranks.
Throughout the series, Sasha's exceptional skills have aided the heroes' cause time and again. Her endless endurance was conducive to delivering messages safely, and she was even skilled enough on horseback to outmaneuver an abnormal pure titan. Sasha's death to Gabi may have been avoided if she was more prepared to face her.
5 Mikasa Ackerman Is 5'7
At five feet and seven inches, Mikasa was the series' tallest female hero. In addition to her magnificent skills as a warrior, her Ackerman lineage provided bursts of strength that could occasionally spell the difference between victory and defeat.
Mikasa's stature is accentuated by her physical strength. In additional to carrying many more thunder spears than Levi, she could also haul massive steel beams over her shoulder without issue. Additionally, she was agile enough to distract Lara Tybur for several minutes while Eren identified and exploited the weakness in her Titan Shifting ability.
4 Connie Springer Is 5'9
Initially, Connie was one of the Scouts' shortest members. After hitting his growth spurt in the time skip, however, he grew to a formidable 5'9.
Unfortunately, he has not grown personally as much as he has physically. Throughout the series, Connie has failed to achieve a single consequential feat in the name of Paradis. To the contrary, he nearly got Armin killed while attempting to feed Falco to his mother in order to return her human form. He also needed to be saved by Sasha during the attack on Rod Reiss' bunker.
3 Eren Jaeger Is 6 Feet Tall
Like Connie, Eren was relatively small when Attack on Titan began. After the time skip, he underwent a significant physical and personal transformation, entering his adult years at roughly 6 feet tall. In his Attack Titan state, he stands at an imposing fifteen meters (which makes him slightly taller than the Female Titan and shorter than the Beast Titan).
The effects of puberty had strategical value to Eren since it made him more difficult for the Warriors to recognize. Even Reiner, who had spent a large amount of time training alongside him, took a moment to realize who he was after Falco haphazardly arranged their meeting.
2 Commander Erwin Is 6'1
Commander Erwin distinguished himself through an uncanny ability to be seen. Everything about his demeanor contributed to his charisma, whether through his winsome features, booming voice, or authoritative stature.
At 6'1, he is the series' second tallest human hero and starkly contrasts his closest confidant, Levi. Nonetheless, he treats his subordinates with respect and relies on their sense of duty to coax them into battle. Without Erwin's legendary leadership skills, Eren would have been taken into the custody of the Military Police, leaving Paradis to suffer a slow and excruciating decline.
1 Jean Kirstein Is 6'2
At six feet and two inches, Jean was the tallest non-shifting hero in the series. Unlike Erwin, he sometimes bragged about his height, such as during heated bar fights with Eren Jaeger. Predictably, the disputes quickly spiraled out of control. Mikasa only didn't interrupt since she hoped that the two would wear each other down.
Though Jean is not the most skilled warrior in the Scouts' ranks, he has nonetheless proven his courage in the battle for Trost and the reclamation of Shiganshina. His leadership skills have also been emphasized and admired by Marco before his mysterious and untimely death.
