In a world filled with dangerous monsters, Levi Ackerman proves humans can be even deadlier. The Captain of the Survey Corps is one of the most popular characters in all of Attack on Titan. His cool demeanor and unparalleled skills in battle make him an easy character to root for.
Levi has had some of the best moments throughout the three seasons of anime and 120-plus chapters of the manga of Attack on Titan. Though everyone's favorite Titan-slayer is sure to add more moments to his resume before the series concludes, he has already had several significant battles under his belt. Here are all of the best fights of Levi Ackerman's life so far.
10 Battle For Trost
Levi's introduction to the series was executed perfectly and showed just how skilled the Captain is at killing Titans. After Eren successfully fills a hole in Wall Rose to prevent more attacks, his body is left weak and defenseless to oncoming Titans. As Armin and Mikasa struggle to free Eren and take him to safety, they are surrounded by two large Titans.
The Titans fell as quickly as they appeared. Out of the sky, lept Levi, slashing through the Titans with ease. Armin actually mistakes Levi for Mikasa, who had been the series' strongest fighter up until this point. Levi's casual dismissal of these Titans made it clear that Levi is in a league of his own.
9 57th Expedition Beyond The Wall
After adopting Eren and company into the Survey Corp., Levi is put in charge of the young Titan-shifter as he accompanies them on his first excursion beyond the Walls. Along with Levi, Eren and Mikasa were Levi's Special Operations Squad, an elite group of Scouts that led the 57th Expedition Beyond The Wall to recover vital information in the fallen city Shiganshina.
Not long after they left, did things go to hell for the Scouts, as Titans surrounded them while another mysterious, Female Titan gave chase to Levi and his squad. Levi delivers a harrowing speech to Eren about choices on the battlefield before dispatching a slew of Titans and aiding in the capture of the Female Titan. This was the first time Levi's excellent leadership abilities were on display.
8 Return To Shiganshina
Though it took much longer than expected, Levi and the rest of the Survey Corp. were eventually able to return to Shiganshina. Their objective remained the same; acquire the information left by Grisha Yeager could be the key to defeating the Titans. That was easier said than done, as the chances of the Colossal (Bertholdt), Armored (Reiner), and Beast Titan appearing was almost a certainty.
Once the Scouts discovered Reiner hiding inside the walls, Levi wasted no time and immediately lunged at the former Scout. His deadly quickness and anger provided an explosive, albeit short, confrontation to begin the battle to retake Shiganshina.
7 Levi Ackerman, Meet Erwin Smith
If you are a fan of Levi Ackerman, you should definitely check out the 'No Regrets' OVA. This story serves to fill in the gaps of Levi's young life before joining the Survey Corps. Levi made a living in the underground slums of the Attack on Titan world by doing some less-than-legal activity with the help of some stolen ODM gear.
When a new job goes wrong, Levi finds himself being pursued by the unrelenting Survey Corp. Levi's future Commander Erwyn Smith emerges from the shadows to quickly disarm him and convinces Levi and his friends to put their skills to good use by joining the Scouts. Seeing the first meeting of Levi and Erwin is a treat for fans of the Scout Regiment's two finest soldiers.
6 The Female Titan
Fans were clamoring for a Mikasa and Levi team-up as soon as the Captain was introduced, and that's just what they got when the Scouts faced off with the deadly Female Titan in the forests beyond Wall Rose. The mysterious foe was on the run after taking Eren hostage, with Levi and Mikasa hot on her tail.
Mikasa is left in awe of Levi's speed and tenacity as he cuts the Female Titan down to size until she is forced to release Eren. After making the Scouts look like nothing more than pesky flies, Levi and Mikasa were able to bring down this intimidating foe with relative ease.
5 One Final Fight With Kenny's Squad
Levi and the Scouts went from heroes to villains in the blink of an eye in the later chapters of Attack on Titan. Their bold challenges of the Military Police and the Royal family lead to their persecution and pursuit by a new anti-personnel squad. Their leader was Kenny the Ripper, a legendary murderer and an important figure from Levi's young life.
Their first encounter may have been even more exciting (more on that later), but the climactic battle between the Special Operations Squad and Kenny's Squad was a sight to behold. The setting of Rod Reiss' underground caves, along with the tactics displayed on both sides, made this one of the most memorable battles in all of the series.
4 War For Paradis
As most fans who have seen Attack's conclusion on Titan Season 3 can imagine, the fighting is far from over for Levi and the rest of his squad. Enemies across the sea in the form of the Marelyians still threaten all the remaining Eldians living behind Paradis's Walls.
Manga readers had already seen the beginnings of this epic battle when the War for Paradis arc began. Anime watchers will have to wait to see this awesome showdown between Levi and the various Founding Titans who fight for the Marelyians, but it is sure to be worth it.
3 Levi Goes Ballistic
A hidden-gem of Attack on Titan is the climactic conclusion to the previously mentioned 'No Regrets' OVA. In the final moments of the special, Levi and his friends are confronted with a particularly evil-looking Titan. After his friends suffered a swift death, Levi loses all sense of control and tears the Titan to shreds. This is the first time Levi tapped into the battle-hardened spirit that lies in every member of the Ackerman clan.
During this fight, the bone-chilling atmosphere only adds to its supreme quality, and Levi is presented as an ultra-deadly force on the battlefield. His loss' adds some context as to why he is so cold when dealing with other fallen comrades' death in the future. While it certainly bothers him, Levi rarely loses his cool as he does in this fight.
2 Chase Through The Streets
Levi's final battle with Kenny's Squad was a sight to behold, but it is nothing compared to this masterpiece of an action scene. Levi is forced on the run after Kenny gets the jump on him, and it's non-stop action from there as both parties attempt to capture Eren and Historia.
What follows is one of the most intense and fast-paced sequences in all of anime. Levi proves to be no match for an entire elite squad, darting and slashing his way through the city streets to pursue Eren. Words truly can't do this scene justice, as the choreography and beautiful animation are second-to-none.
1 The Beast Titan
This fight between the two very best warriors of each opposing side is tops amongst any fight in anime history and is easily the best moment for Levi Ackerman in all of Attack on Titan. No scene is charged with more emotion and violence than what is on display here, as Levi cuts down a dozen Titans in pursuit of the giant Beast.
As the Beast Titan finally notices his fallen soldiers, Levi leaps through the air with an intensity like no other. In a few swift moves, Levi had cut the giant Best Titan down to size and shoved his blades down the throat of its controller, Zeke. Never before had fans been treated to such a dominant display of power from Levi. It is truly a quintessential fight in one of the best anime series of all time.
