Historia Reiss, formerly known as Christa Lenz, is the current Queen of the Walls, making her the ultimate authority of Paradis Island. You'd think someone who comes from royalty would've had an easy, carefree life, but in Historia's case, this couldn't be further from the truth.

Luckily for those interested, we've taken ten of the worst things that happened to her so far so that you can be glad you've never had to walk a mile in those regal shoes. Hopefully, this is the worst of what's going to happen to her for the rest of the series. There are some manga spoilers as well as mentions of upsetting situations, so proceed appropriately.

10 Got Trapped in Utgard Castle

Historia Watching Nanaba Being Eaten At Castle Utgard

Though she survived her night at Utgard Castle, we wouldn't wish this ordeal on anyone. Historia, Ymir, Connie, Reiner, Bertholdt, and four of their superiors were forced to spend a night in the abandoned castle after Titans appeared within the Walls.

Not only were Historia and the others forced to witness the deaths of their superiors, but they also had to fend off the smaller Titans that actually found their way in. To top it all off, she was nearly eaten by a Titan herself! Even though she survived such a hellish night, we wouldn't find it hard to believe that this night has stayed in her nightmares.

9 Swallowed by Ymir

Desperate to save Historia from a horrible future on Paradis Island, Ymir, in Titan form, swallowed Historia whole before rendezvousing with Reiner and Bertholdt as they headed for the edge of Paradis Island.

Out of all the places Historia wants to be, inside of a Titan's mouth probably isn't one of them... When Ymir finally spat her back out, she was covered from head to toe in sticky Titan saliva. Hopefully, she took a nice, long bath when everything was over.

8 Forgot Her Memories of Frieda For Most of Her Life

Historia had quite a tragic childhood. Her older half-sister Frieda Reiss was the only person who showed her a shred of compassion. Frieda's constant visits were the only thing that gave a young Historia any kind of joy, but whenever their visits ended, Frieda used her Founding Titan powers to erase Historia's memories of the time spent together.

Sure, she got these memories back years later, but this doesn't erase the fact that she went through her childhood and adolescence without a single pleasant memory. If she retained these memories of Frieda, she might have been a more optimistic, confident individual than she is now.

7 Kidnapped by the Military Police

Despite the efforts of the Levi Squad, the Military Police successfully managed to capture Eren and Historia. Though the two were successfully rescued without suffering major injuries (with Eren even learning how to harden as a result), being kidnapped isn't exactly a pleasant experience.

To make things worse, they were transported to Rod Reiss in coffins, which probably made Historia think that Kenny Ackerman was going to finish a job that he'd nearly done so many years ago.

6 Threatened by Levi

Attack on Titan Levi Threatens Historia

Anime-only fans definitely have no recollection of this scene, but loyal manga readers can remember this moment all too well. After discovering Historia's true identity, Levi gave her only one option: to become Queen. When she refused, he picked her up off the ground and challenged her to resist him. We've seen Levi resort to violence as a form of coercion before, but never did we imagine Historia would be subjected to his cruelty.

Even though he never beat her down or kicked out some of her teeth, the sheer terror she must've felt after being picked up by the strongest man in the Walls would've been enough to convince her to do anything. We know we said earlier that she must suffer continual consequences after Utgard Castle, but alo we bet that the Titans in her nightmares all look just like Levi.

5 Watched Her Own Father Be Turned into a Monster Before Killing Him

There's no denying the fact that Rod Reiss is one of the most dishonorable characters in Attack On Titan. Not only did he ruin Historia's childhood, but he also attempted to manipulate her into consuming Eren. After Historia rejected his plan, he turned into the largest (and arguably the grossest) Titan we've ever seen.

Not only did Historia watch her own father turn into such a monster with her own eyes, but she also happened to be the one to end his life after his body was blown to bits. Seeing her father regress into such a detestable form couldn't have been easy, and killing a parent is never something anyone truly wants to do, though in this case it made for an epic scene.

4 Became Pregnant To Delay Her Inheritance of the Beast Titan

Historia's pregnancy is still largely a mystery. While many fans believe that Eren is the father of her unborn child, others believe that it's another young man who grew up near the ranch Historia was raised. It's suspected that Historia was forced to become pregnant in order to delay her inheritance of the Beast Titan when Zeke arrived to Paradis Island in order to buy Eren and Zeke a few more months to make contact.

Given Historia's depressed, indifferent stare when she's first shown pregnant, it definitely doesn't look like she's too thrilled. Childbirth should be celebrated and above all else, voluntary, but Historia was most likely forced to have a child as a pawn in this war that she's taken a backseat in.

3 Forced to Join the Survey Corps After Renouncing Claims to the Reiss Family Name

From the first time we met Historia back in Season 1, nothing about her screamed Survey Corps material. In fact, she was crying when she joined, which makes sense given the decision wasn't really hers in the first place. After Wall Maria had been breached, Rod Reiss allowed her to live on the condition that she changed her name to Christa Lenz and join the Survey Corps.

Rod Reiss, like many fan, thought Historia would've been killed in the line of duty, but he was terribly mistaken. Not only did she graduate as the 10th best soldier in her class, but she also survived several ordeals like her night in Utgard Castle and the 57th Expedition Outside the Walls. As if it wasn't bad that Rod Reiss disowned her, it's even worse that he was counting on his own daughter to be eaten alive.

2 Abhorred By Her Mother Until Her Dying Breath

Historia is the illegitimate child of Rod Reiss and his former maid and mistress, Alma. After being sent away to a remote ranch, Alma made her intense hatred for Historia known, only speaking to her twice in her life. The first time was when Historia attempted to hug Alma but was immediately rejected, with her mother telling her that she wished she had the courage to kill her.

Years later, before Kenny Ackerman slit Alma's throat right in front of Historia, Alma told Historia that she wished she'd never given birth to her. Nobody deserves to be treated like this by their own mother, especially since Historia did nothing to her at all.

1 Lost Her Best Friend

Levi and Erwin. Reiner and Bertholdt. Even Mikasa and Eren. We can name some of our favorite duos in the series all day long, but perhaps one of the best was the relationship between Historia and Ymir. After Historia made a declaration to always stand by Ymir's side, the two were forced to go separate ways as Ymir joined Reiner and Bertholdt while Historia retreated with the Survey Corps.

Fans dreamed of the day the two would be reunited, but after Historia received Ymir's letter, it became clear that someone had eaten her to attain the power of the Jaw Titan, leaving Historia to grieve over the last person out there who truly loved her. Nobody should have to go through that kind of pain, especially someone with as pure of a heart as Historia.
