Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2 will premiere in Japan on Jan. 9. The last batch of episodes for the popular anime will adapt the remaining chapters from Hajime Isayama's manga, which came to a divisive conclusion in early 2021. The finale for the series will once again be produced at animation studio MAPPA, who took over production for the show after Wit Studio animated the anime's first three seasons. The premiere of The Final Season Part 2 will be preceded by the release of three recap specials, which will present a condensed version of the previous 75 episodes of the anime. The recap specials will also feature footage from the series' OVA (original video animation) releases, which showed key events from main show through the perspective of different characters, such as Levi and Mikasa. MAPPA has also promised to add completely new scenes to these specials.

Fans who prefer Attack on Titan dubbed into English should look forward to the upcoming Anime NYC convention, where series distributor Funimation host a panel with the series' English voice cast.

Pony Canyon's decision to livestream the Final Season panel internationally speaks to the popularity of the series worldwide, especially in the United States, where the series has been in the news lately for a variety of different reasons. Riverdale actor Cole Sprouse recently showed off his Eren Jaeger costume, while more bizarrely, Congressman Paul Gosar is currently facing criticism and threats of disciplinary action following his release of an edited Attack on Titan video. The clip featured his face superimposed over the series' Survey Corps soldiers as they killed several titans, which were altered to feature the likenesses of several of Gosar's political rivals, including Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and President Joe Biden.
