Though he originally seemed to be an ordinary soldier, Eren Yeager, the main character of Attack on Titan, became one of the strongest characters in the series once he learned how to wield the powers of the Attack Titan. He fought for the Survey Corps and saved his friends from many threats — before becoming a greater threat himself.

After inheriting the War Hammer Titan and claiming the Founding Titan, Eren proved to be the most powerful Titan Shifter who ever lived. Despite being so strong, there are many characters that he didn't get a chance to fight, with these ten being the strongest.

10 Erwin Smith Died Before He Could Fight Eren

Erwin Smith Attack On Titan, Angry

At the beginning of the series, Erwin Smith was one of Eren's idols. He was the commander of the Survey Corps and did everything that he could to keep Eren safe, believing that he was the key to saving the world from the Titans and learning the answer to a question he had since childhood.

Erwin ended up dying in a fight against Eren's half-brother, Zeke, while Eren was still a soldier in the Survey Corps, so the two never became enemies. If Erwin was still alive when Eren betrayed his former comrades, however, he would have done more to stop Eren than Hange was able to, though it wouldn't have mattered either way as Eren was clearly stronger.

9 Mike Zacharias Was The Second-Strongest Soldier In Paradis

When Mike Zacharias was introduced, he was known as Paradis' second-strongest soldier. He didn't have many interactions with Eren, even when they were both in the Survey Corps. In the beginning of the series, Mike would have most likely been able to defeat Eren, seeing as how Levi, who was only slightly stronger than Mike, could have easily taken him down.

However, as with Erwin, Eren eventually became more powerful and would have been able to to defeat him. Though Eren didn't fight Mike, Zeke ended up killing him, just like he did to Erwin.

8 Sasha Blouse Was Great With A Gun

Sasha was one of Eren's closest friends throughout the majority of the series. They met each other as members of the 104th Cadet Corps before they fought alongside each other as soldiers in Squad Levi. Because she grew up hunting, she was great at shooting both bullets and arrows at her enemies.

She was one of the few soldiers who survived the battle against the Warriors at Shiganshina, but unlike her comrades, she died before the Rumbling began. She was killed when the Survey Corps saved Eren in Marley, but would have been a great help against him in the final chapter of the manga, even if she wouldn't be able to kill him on her own.

7 Marco Bott Was The First Of The Top Ten 104th Cadet Corps Soldiers To Die

There are three branches to Paradis' military, with only the top ten strongest soldiers from each class eligible to join the Military Police. Like Eren, Marco was one of the soldiers who could have gotten in, seeing as he was strong, smart, and had leadership potential.

However, when he discovered that Reiner and Bertholdt were the Armored and Colossal Titans, he tried to talk to them rather than take any action to defeat them. Because of this, even if Marco had the chance to get stronger, he probably would have tried to work things out peacefully with Eren, as Armin hoped to do, which would have resulted in his death.

6 Petra Ral Was The Soldier In Levi's Squad Who Eren Got Closest To

When Eren was accepted into the Survey Corps, he joined Squad Levi so that the soldiers that Levi trusted most could take him down if he betrayed them. Petra tried to be friends with Eren and even died with her comrades in order to protect him. In the beginning of the series, she would have easily been able to kill Eren, seeing as how she almost did when he accidentally transformed while trying to pick up a spoon. It was only because Levi stopped her and the other members of his squad that Eren lived.

5 Marcel Galliard Was The Best Warrior Sent To Paradis

Marcel AoT

Eren had a tough time fighting Annie, Bertholdt, and Reiner, the three Warriors who had invaded Paradis. However, the three were originally supposed to be four, with Marcel, the Jaw Titan, being their leader.

If he hadn't died upon arriving at the island, the Warriors' plan to take the Founding Titan would have most likely succeeded, and Eren wouldn't have ever gotten his strongest powers. Because of this, Marcel would have been able to defeat him, especially if all four Warriors teamed up.

4 Karl Fritz Was The Founding Titan's Most Peaceful Inheritor

Karl Fritz

Before the Yeagers obtained the Founding Titan, it belonged to the Fritz family. For centuries, they used it, along with the other Titans, to dominate the world. However, Karl Fritz changed history by giving seven of the Nine Titans to Marley, bringing a group of Eldians to Paradis, and removing their memories to live in peace for as long as he could. He died before Eren was born but if he saw the actions that Eren was taking, he would have quickly stopped him to protect the outside world.

3 Frieda Reiss Was Another Inheritor Of The Founding Titan Who Lost It To Eren's Father

Frieda Reiss was the last descendant of Karl Fritz's who inherited the Founding Titan, since Grisha Yeager stole it from her family. He did this because he was able to see into the future due to Eren inheriting the Attack Titan. Eren told Grisha to kill the royal family and inherit the Founding Titan so he could pass it onto the Eren from his own timeline. Seeing as how Grisha was able to defeat Frieda even though he barely used his abilities as the Attack Titan, Eren would have been able to defeat her as well.

2 Historia Reiss Was The Best Queen That Paradis Ever Had

Historia Reiss in Attack on Titan

Even though Eren commanded Grisha to attack the Reiss family, there was one member who he always wanted to protect: Historia. Though she was considered weak by many people around her, she was actually one of the strongest soldiers of the 104th Cadet Corps. Upon learning that she was the heir to the Eldian throne, she defeated her father when he transformed into a Titan and became the Queen of the Walls.

Despite not being the strongest physically, Eren ensured that she was very powerful mentally and never let harm come her way.

1 Ymir Fritz Was The First Titan To Ever Exist

Ymir Fritz being blamed in Attack on Titan.

Ymir Fritz became the first Titan when she came into contact with the Source of All Living Matter. Her power allowed the Eldian Empire to utterly dominate all of its enemies, and when she died and entered the Coordinate, she was forced to create Titans there for centuries.

Eren eventually stopped her and she helped him kill people with the Rumbling, until Mikasa was able to save her from her own prison and let her die, along with all of the other Titans that ever existed. If she was still alive when Eren had all of his powers at the end of the series, the battle would have been epic and it's hard to say who would have won, but seeing as how she was murdered centuries prior to his birth, they were never actually able to fight.
