Attack On Titan is full of intriguing characters, many of whom have garnered widespread attention in the fandom. The complicated protagonist, Eren Jaeger, has just as many loyal fans as he does vocal critics. The rough-around-the-edges warrior, Levi Ackerman, was an instant fan favorite who even received a spinoff manga.

Mikasa, Armin, and Hange are other popular characters in the series who fans can't get enough of, for better or worse. However, some characters didn't receive as much time in the story as fans' hoped. A few had their stories cut too short, while others got lost in the narrative.

Attack On Titan isn't exactly known for having a sense of humor. However, Sasha Braus was one of the series' most lighthearted characters. She always lifted the mood. Sasha became an instant fan favorite after her debut, when she ate a potato on her first day of training with the Cadet Corps. When Shadis called her out, she split it and offered him half.

Unfortunately, Sasha's time in the series was cut way too short, dying after Gabi shot her. Her death marked a turning point for the series, signaling that the story wouldn't be able to recover from the impending doom.

9 Historia Was Sidelined In The Final Story Arcs

Historia had a pretty consequential role during the second season. She was revealed as royalty, and her lineage revealed lots of information about the origin of Titans. Fans loved and appreciated Historia, especially after she single-handedly defeated Rod Reiss' abnormal Titan.

Unfortunately, she got sidelined for most of the final story arcs. She only made a few brief appearances, most of which were in flashbacks. All fans know is that she was pregnant and sent to an undisclosed location for her safety. However, many wanted to see her reaction to the Rumbling.

8 Marco Could Have Been One Of The Strongest Scout Members

Marco's Corpse in Attack On Titan.

Marco was one of the first major losses in Attack On Titan. He inspired Jean to join the Survey Corps, but he could have been one of the Scouts' strongest fighters if he didn't die during the Battle of Trost. He could have risen through the ranks and taken on a leadership role, too.

Marco was the first to recognize that there were potential enemies amongst the Scouts. He was the first to assume that the Colossal Titan was possibly a shifter like Eren. Marco could have had one of the most important roles in the fight against the Warriors. He probably would have also fought against Eren and radical Jaegerists.

7 Fans Wanted To See More Of Ymir's Friendship With Historia

Ymir and Historia quickly became one of the most popular ships in the fandom. They had a pretty wholesome dynamic, and though they never became canon, fans can't help but look back on their time together with nostalgia. Unfortunately, Ymir was written out of the story pretty quickly.

Historia's character arc was primarily about learning to stand on her own two feet and become a leader. Ymir played an important role in that and always believed in her. Though Ymir's exit was important for Historia's development, it still upset many fans.

6 Petra Was An Important Member Of Levi's Special Squad

Petra is happy in Attack On Titan.

Petra was one of the most memorable supporting characters during the first fight against the Female Titan. Unfortunately, her time was cut short after she was killed alongside most of Levi's special squad. Fans remember her dedication to helping Levi fight the Titans.

She killed them without a second thought. Petra made fans realize the sheer strength and courage it takes to become an important member of the Survey Corps. Though she's a powerful fighter, she's also compassionate. She even expressed regret for impulsively attacking Eren without getting to know him first.

5 Niccolo's Role In The Story Could Have Been Expanded Upon

Many fans think Niccolo's feelings for Sasha and being a good cook are the epitome of his entire character arc. However, he played an important role in the story when he gave the spinal fluid to Falco while protecting everyone else from it.

His willingness to work with the Paladians was one of the few examples in the series of someone overcoming the propaganda forced down their throats. Instead of adhering to what he was always taught, Niccolo was willing to see the good qualities in those he was raised to hate. His role in the story could have been expanded upon from this angle.

4 Hannes' Character Development Is Praiseworthy

Hannes was a coward when he debuted in the series. He didn't do anything to stop Dina when she approached Carla. Instead, he just grabbed Eren and Mikasa, opting to run away with them. Though he saved their lives, fans understood why Eren grew up hating him. After all, he watched his mother die over Hannes' shoulder.

However, Hannes underwent significant character development that shouldn't be ignored. He grew courageous enough to stand face-to-face with Dina and buy Eren some time to regenerate his Titan powers. Hannes died in the process, but fans wish he and Eren could have talked about their past.

3 Fans Have A Lot Of Questions About Frieda

Frieda Reiss wearing a hat and smiling in Attack On Titan.

Frieda Reiss was an important character during the flashbacks in Season 2. However, fans still have a lot of questions about her. Certain things about her backstory and Founding Titan form don't make sense. Fans are perplexed about why Frieda's Founding Titan form wasn't as massive as the other shifters'.

Eren's Founding Titan is a complete behemoth, but Frieda's just looked like the average Aberrant. Some argue that she didn't want to make hers massive because it'd put so many people in danger, while others say that the royal family's vow to condemn war prevented Frieda from bringing out the full extent of the Founder's power.

2 Bertholdt Is The Most Underrated Member Of The Marleyan Warriors

Bertholdt in the 104th Cadet Corps in Attack On Titan.

Compared to Reiner and Annie, Bertholdt is the most underrated member of the Marleyan warriors. He often got lost in the narrative. Though his Colossal Titan broke down the walls and destroyed Shiganshina, effectively setting the whole story into motion, Bertholdt was constantly sidelined.

Bertholdt also seemingly had the roughest time coping with his actions. Annie became coldhearted and self-centered to justify them, while Reiner developed a dual personality to hide his wounds. Fans have always wanted Bertholdt's story to be expanded upon and see how he dealt with his moral dilemma.

1 Pieck Was One Of The Most Interesting Warriors

Pieck smirks down alone in Attack On Titan.

After the main cast headed to Marley, fans were intrigued by one Titan-shifting warrior in particular, Pieck, who inherited the Cart Titan. She didn't have as much screentime as some of the other warriors, but fans wish she did. After all, her story didn't begin after the Paladians went to Marley. If it weren't for her, Reiner and Zeke would have died during the second attack on Shiganshina.

Pieck inherited the Cart because of her strong discernment and ability to gauge any situation. She was critical of the Marleyan government and thought their idea to make four kids responsible for the Paladis endeavor was foolish. She was also a great judge of character, quickly realizing that Yelena was untrustworthy. Pieck deserves a spin-off more than any other supporting character.
