10 Mikasa, Jean, Hange, Connie and Sasha vs Armored Titan
This battle highlighted the effective teamwork of the Survey Corps and also introduced fans to a new weapon called the Thunder Spear. Previous attacks against the Armored Titan had been ineffective as the blades typically used to cut down Titans could not pierce his armor. But equipped with a new explosive weapon, a combined effort by the Survey Corps brought Reiner to the brink of death. However, armed with the ability to transfer his consciousness within his body, The Armored Titan successfully escaped with his life.
9 Eren vs Mindless Titans
After being eaten by a Titan, most people would just give up. But not Eren Yeager. As he floated around in a Titan's belly, Eren remembered everything the enemy had taken from him.
With Titan-changing abilities and a serious temper, Eren transformed into a 15 meter Titan and laid waste to the Titans that had taken over the Trost District. Fuelled by bloodlust, Eren put his rage and fighting experience to good use, slaughtering Titan after Titan and offering humanity a chance at victory.
8 Meet Captain Levi
Okay, so technically this isn't the first time fans see Levi, but it is the first time viewers get to see him in action. In comparison to some of the other epic battles, this fight might seem underwhelming. However, this fight is significant because it's the first time the anime introduces a human who is so skilled at taking down Titans. In previous episodes, an entire team of soldiers would find it difficult taking down a single Titan and there were often casualties. Yet here viewers see one man cut down two Titans with ease. And his biggest concern? Getting blood on his sparkling clean blades.
7 Eren vs Female Titan II
With the fight taking place within the city walls, Annie and Eren did not hold back, resulting in many soldier and civilian casualties. During the fight, Annie made a business decision and tried to escape by climbing the wall. And who can blame her? Titan Eren is truly terrifying. Not to be outdone, Mikasa swooped in, cutting Annie's fingers and preventing her escape. With soldiers and Eren closing in, Annie made yet another smart decision and crystalized herself in order to avoid interrogation. Maybe not the ending fans wanted, but it let Annie live to fight another day.
6 Survey Corps vs Rod Reiss
Standing 120m tall, the Titan form of Rod Reiss is twice as tall as the Colossal Titan and just as problematic. After turning into a pure Titan, Reiss makes his way to the city walls, ignoring the soldiers nearby. Similar to the Colossal Titan, the Survey Corps is unable to get close to Reiss due to the massive amount of steam he is letting off. Eventually, he arrives at the Orvud district where he is met by members of the Survey Corps and the Garrison. Using cannon fire, Reiss is prevented from climbing the wall. The final blow comes from Eren who, in his Titan form, shoves gunpowder into Reiss' mouth, blowing off his head.
5 Levi and Mikasa vs Female Titan
This was the fight fans wanted to see. Humanity's strongest soldier and the Titan-slaying prodigy taking on a Titan who moments before had wiped out an elite team like they were nothing more than annoying flies. This was the first time fans witnessed the full extent of Levi's abilities as he cut through the Titan, demonstrating incredible speed and technique. Mikasa was forced to take a back seat for most of the battle, but that didn't matter as the dynamic duo were more than enough to take down the Female Titan.
4 Eren vs Armored Titan I
After reaching his breaking point, Reiner revealed his identity as the Armored Titan, hoping that Eren would agree to leave with him peacefully. That didn't go according to plan, so Reiner and Eren engaged in an epic battle.
Although Reiner initially gains the upper hand, Eren takes a more controlled approach and uses some of the hand-to-hand combat skills Annie had taught him during training. With defeat all but inevitable, Reiner calls on the Colossal Titan, who helps Reiner escape by releasing a devastating amount of steam.
3 Eren vs Female Titan I
This battle was the first time fans got to see two skilled Titans go head to head. Annie had outclassed Eren as recruits, but her superior hand-to-hand skill was not as evident during this fight. Eren, overcome with rage after seeing the Levi squad killed, came out swinging and pressured the Female Titan.
He successfully pinned Annie to the ground before pummelling her with punch after punch. One incredible highlight of the fight saw Annie destroy Eren's jaw with her hardening ability, only for Eren to immediately respond with his own brutal attack. The Female Titan eventually emerged as the victor, but this wouldn't be the last time these giants would trade blows.
2 Armin and Eren vs Colossal Titan
With Eren's power and Armin's brains, this team was built to take down Titans. By working together and playing to each other's strengths, they beat one of the most powerful Titans of the series, Bertolt's Colossal Titan. Using his genius, Armin formulated a plan to deceive Bertolt. With the Colossal Titan focused on releasing steam and scorching Armin to death, Eren left a Titan shell in his place and used his ODM gear to sneak up on Bertolt and cut him from his Titan form.
1 Levi vs The Beast Titan
Despite already knowing how much of a tough character Levi is, some fans were unsure if he could take down a Titan that wiped out most of the Survey Corps, including Captain Erwin. The Beast Titan was not only extremely strong but also highly intelligent. Crushing rocks with his immense strength and launching them at the oncoming scouts, Zeke had yet to break a sweat. Enter Captain Levi. Just like in his battle with the female Titan, Levi completely overwhelmed Zeke with his speed and accuracy. Cutting Zeke from his Titan form, Levi's chance to question the Titan-shifter was cut short by the Cart Titan. Still, the message was clear. Don't mess with Levi.
