Based on the smash-hit Kodansha manga series by Hajime Isayama, "Attack on Titan" is set in a post-apocalyptic future where the last remnants of humanity shelter in a sprawling city protected by massive concentric walls. The walls are a key defence against the mysterious, monstrous and massively powerful titans. It is later revealed that some humans can become titans, creating the hope that the monsters could possibly be defeated. However, Season 1 ended with the revelation that there is at least one titan inside one of the city's walls.

The synopsis for Season 2 reads:

"Eren Jaeger swore to wipe out every last Titan, but in a battle for his life he wound up becoming the thing he hates most. With his new powers, he fights for humanity’s freedom facing the monsters that threaten his home. After a bittersweet victory against the Female Titan, Eren finds no time to rest—a horde of Titans is approaching Wall Rose and the battle for humanity continues!"
