Landing a role in Black Adam, Atom Smasher has a much richer history than many of his new fans know. The grandson of the villain Cyclotron, he was raised by the Golden Age Atom, Al Pratt. He first joined Infinity Inc., the JSA equivalent of the Teen Titans, as Nuklon and would even have a short stint in the Justice League before becoming Atom Smasher to homage his deceased godfather, Pratt.

In time, Atom Smasher became a prominent member of the Justice Society of America. Gifted with super strength, the ability to increase his density, and grow to titanic sizes, Atom Smasher proved a formidable hero. Even facing down Marvel's strongest villains, Atom Smasher would defeat the most dangerous.

10 Atlas Is Outclassed By Atom Smasher

Atlas from the Thunderbolts in Marvel Comics

First known as Power Man and then Goliath, Atlas joined the Masters of Evil. He was part of the roster of the team that took over Avengers Mansion, his strength and growing powers making him a dangerous foe. He'd later join Zemo's Thunderbolts, changing his name to Atlas. Atlas proved to be a formidable Thunderbolt, and has switched between heroism and villainy since leaving the 'Bolts.

At first glance, it seems like Atlas and Atom Smasher would be an even fight. However, Atom Smasher's density control takes him out of Atlas's league. He can make himself way more durable than Atlas, which will give him the edge to take down Atlas.

9 Blastaar's Energy Powers Won't Give Him An Advantage

Blastaar the Living Bomb Burst shouting in rage in Marvel Comics

Blastaar The Living Bomb-Burst hails from the Negative Zone. The powerful conqueror is gifted with great strength and the ability to charge his blows with explosive energy. This has served him well in his battles against the Fantastic Four, but against Atom Smasher, it won't be the trump card he needs to win.

Atom Smasher's strength increases as his size does and his density control powers gives him amazing durability even at smaller sizes. This will help him defeat Blastaar. The bigger Atom Smasher gets, the harder it will get for Blastaar to hurt him, and that will give Smasher the time he needs to defeat the alien.

8 The Blob May Unmovable But That Won't Win The Fight

An image of Blob smashing through objects while wearing a black suit in Marvel COmics

The Blob is a way tougher villain than he gets credit for being. His super strength puts him among the X-Men's physically strongest villains. He has fantastic durability, bolstered by the elasticity of his bulk, and complete control of his center of gravity. He's the proverbial immovable object when he needs to be, but that won't help him beat Atom Smasher.

In a slugfest against someone his size, Blob is as tough as they come. Atom Smasher can get much bigger and stronger, which will render a lot of Blob's powers useless. Blob can make himself unmovable, but a fifty-foot tall Atom Smasher can simply knock Blob unconscious where he stands.

7 Sabretooth's Savagery Won't Make A Difference

Sabretooth with blood on his claws in Marvel Comics

Sabretooth is a brutal killer. It's easy to underestimate him, even though he has many of the same powers as Wolverine. Sabretooth is physically stronger than his rival, but doesn't have an adamantium skeleton. However, Sabretooth is a team beater all by himself. He gives the impression that he's a berserker, but he's a crafty strategist. Unfortunately for him, all the strategies in the world won't let him beat Atom Smasher.

Atom Smasher has every advantage in this fight, but Sabretooth would still surprise him. He's the type of villain who would definitely scale Atom Smasher in a ploy to slash his throat. It wouldn't work because of Smasher's density powers, but Sabretooth would give it a try. His healing factor would keep him in the fight for a bit, but Atom Smasher would eventually triumph.

6 Atom Smasher Would Overwhelm Morlun

Morlun with a confident grin, standing in front of a yellow webbed background in Marvel Comics

Spider-Man has faced some cool villains over the years, but few of them have the style of Morlun. The multiversal energy vampire wears the clothes of an 18th century nobleman, but he's not just a fashion killer. Morlun's powers have allowed him to not just challenge, but defeat and kill the Wall-Crawler. Morlun is a serious threat, but Atom Smasher wouldn't have much of a problem.

Morlun is very strong and has years of fighting experience, but he won't be able to hang with Atom Smasher for long. The hero can increase his density to levels where even Morlun's strongest shots wouldn't matter. Once he starts growing, Atom Smasher can easily one shot the villain.

5 Doctor Octopus's Arms Wouldn't Be That Great Of A Weapon

Marvel Comics' Doctor Octopus leaping into action in Spider-Man/Doctor Octopus: Year One.

Doctor Octopus can be dorky, but he's been battling Spider-Man for years. His octopus arms make him a physical threat, but it's his intelligence that makes him extremely dangerous. Doc Ock has come up with complex, cunning schemes, ones that have allowed him to get the physically superior Spider-Man right where he wants him. As good as Ock is, he'd still fall to Atom Smasher.

Doc Ock's arms are great weapons, but against Atom Smasher, they're not the best weapon. Smasher can grow big enough where they wouldn't be effective at all. At that point, it's a giant with super strength against a scientist who isn't in the best shape. That's an easy fight for Atom Smasher.

4 Kang Would Want To Win Fair And Square So He'd Lose

Kang the Conqueror standing in front of Marvel's broken timeline

Kang is an iconic Avengers villain. The Conqueror has traveled through space and time trying to find challenging opponents, doing his best to defeat the greatest heroes of them all: the Avengers. Kang is a superlatively skilled fighter, and his armor is armed to the teeth with all manner of weapons and future technology.

All things considered, Kang could certainly defeat Atom Smasher, but there's a reason he wouldn't be able to. Kang is an honorable man who likes a challenge. He'd want to beat Atom Smasher man to man. That would give the hero the chance to defeat him. All it would take is one good shot from Atom Smasher and the battle would be over.

3 Red Hulk Wouldn't Be Able To Increase His Strength Against Atom Smasher

Marvel Comics' Red Hulk painted by Alex Ross

Red Hulk made a fool of the Marvel Universe when he first appeared. The villain ran through every hero he battled, his Hulk strength serving him well. Much like the Hulk, Red Hulk had infinite strength potential, but his strength only increased when he absorbed energy. This makes him dangerous, but it gives Atom Smasher an advantage.

RELATED: 10 Strongest Marvel Heroes Atom Smasher Can Defeat

Without the ability to increase his strength by absorbing energy, Red Hulk won't be able to keep up with Atom Smasher. On the other hand, there's nothing stopping Smasher from manipulating his own strength, size, and durability, allowing him to gain the power to land the knockout blow.

2 Abomination Would Get Outpaced By Atom Smasher

Abomination aka Emil Blonsky grimacing in Marvel comics.

Abomination is Hulk's toughest foe. The gamma irradiated monster has some advantages over the Green Goliath and some deficiencies in comparison. He keeps his intelligence and is stronger than the Hulk is at a base level, but he can't increase his strength.

Abomination would give Atom Smasher a good fight at first, but wouldn't be able to keep up with him. Atom Smasher, unlike Abomination, can increase his strength, durability, and size. That's going to give him the advantage. He'll get bigger and stronger and eventually be able to knock the Abomination out.

1 Ultron Couldn't Stand Up To Atom Smasher's Onslaught

An image of Ultron powering himself up in Savage Avengers 6

Ultron has amassed a high body count in his quest to destroy all biological life. He's a dangerous combatant, but it's his durability that is his biggest attribute. Ultron's adamantium shell has allowed him to tank every attack thrown at him. However, he's not indestructible and Atom Smasher would prove that.

Ultron is made of adamantium on the outside, but his internal components aren't. That's going to give Atom Smasher the chance he needs. He can increase his density so much that Ultron can't hurt him, all the while increasing his size and strength. Then, he can bludgeon Ultron until something vital inside of him breaks.
