Dust off your Atari 2600, because "Centipede" and "Missile Command" are poised for a comeback, this time on the big screen.

Deadline reports Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films has signed a deal with Atari to develop feature films based on the classic video games.

Both debuted in 1980 in arcades before being adapted for Atari consoles. In "Centipede," the player defended against spiders, scorpions and fleas while trying to stop the centipede's never-ending march down the screen. In "Missile Command," the player tried to protect six cities from an endless hail of ballistic missiles.

They're both shoot-'em-up games with no storyline to speak of, which leaves the movie possibilities wide open. Clearly, it's the recognizable brand more than the concept the producers are targeting.

A film based on Atari's classic "Asteroids" has been in the works at Universal Pictures since 2009.
