When Assassin's Creed Valhalla hits shelves in November, players will be tasked with establishing a new settlement for a band of vikings led by Eivor, a powerful warrior. In addition to exploring the Viking colonization of England and their conflict with the Saxons, there will also be new features and mechanics introduced in the Ubisoft title. One is particularly wholesome: The ability to pet cats.As revealed in a tweet on Monday, players will have the ability to pick up, pet and cuddle with cats in the new Assassin's Creed game. The tweet reads, "It may be the Dark Ages, but there's always a little light. Yes, you can pet cats in Assassin's Creed Valhalla."It's accompanied by a seven-second gameplay video, in which Eivor stands near a building and holds a cat in their arms. Eivor pets the cat and nuzzles its neck before setting it down, while two more cats walk around in the grass at their feet.Related: Assassin's Creed: Kassandra Was Odyssey's Lead, But Exec Said 'Women Don't Sell'

Given the level of violence that will surely permeate Valhalla, petting cats is a very wholesome reprieve from the main story. Although there won't be many side-quests, it seems there will at least be moments in which to take a breather and interact with the world, which is a great way to establish immersion and allow players to explore at their own pace, in their own way.

Ubisoft has not announced similar mechanics for other animals, which has already sparked some conversation on social media. However, animal companions and the ability to bond with them isn't a feature that's entirely new to Valhalla; petting cats builds off previous games.

For example, players can take animal companions in 2018's Odyssey, including wolves, lynxes and bears. If players leave the screen for more than a few seconds, these companions will lay down at the protagonist's feet and their eagle, Ikaros, will settle on their arm for pets.

Therefore, it seems safe to assume players will be able to interact with more than just cats in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Either way, it's worth noting Eivor is snuggling what appears to be a domesticated house cat -- and each of the cats in this brief video is huge and fluffy, which is wonderful.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be released on Nov. 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia.
