Up-and-coming British screenwriter Michael Lesslie has been hired by New Regency and Ubisoft to adapt the hit video-game franchise Assassin's Creed, Heat Vision reports.

Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class, Prometheus) is attached to star as bartender Desmond Miles, the modern-day descendant of a line of hired killers who finds himself traveling through time participating in the family business. Fassbender will also serve as a producer alongside Conor McCaughan.

Hardly a household name, Lesslie has written short films like Skirt as well as the play Prince of Denmark.
