Assassin's Creed Valhalla's second major expansion, The Siege of Paris, will reportedly arrive on Aug. 5, according to a new leak from Xbox.

A screenshot captured by an eagle-eyed player reveals an Xbox store listing for the second planned DLC for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The listing, posted by an Assassin's Creed fan account on Twitter, reveals The Siege of Paris expansion will release on Aug. 5. The fan account, called CriptAssassINI, followed up the post by clarifying the posted release date could possibly be a temporary placeholder, but an early August release date would match the summer 2021 release window that Ubisoft had previously attached to the expansion.

The listing details some of the narrative content of The Siege of Paris, which will pit Valhalla protagonist Eivor against the forces of 9th century emperor Charles the Fat. Returning to walk in the boots of the Viking assassin, players will continue the story of Valhalla as they explore the war-torn kingdom of Francia and lay siege to the city of Paris, a setting that was previously revealed at Valhalla developer Ubisoft Montreal's E3 2021 presentation. The studio initially teased a release window of summer 2021, which the Xbox listing seemingly confirms. Soon after fans captured photos of the listing, however, the listing immediately vanished from the store. Ubisoft has yet to comment on the leak.

In addition to the new setting and story, Ubisoft also announced at E3 2021 that the second DLC will feature the return of "black box" infiltration missions from Assassin's Creed Unity and Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Valhalla's predecessors which released in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Black box missions assign clear mission objectives to players, but allow the players to decide which routes and tactics they wish to use to achieve their goals. The expansion will also bring new abilities, weapons, gear and enemy types.

The Siege of Paris is the second of Valhalla's major DLC packs. The first expansion, Wrath of the Druids, released earlier this year. Other post-launch content has come to the game in the form of small, free updates like the Yule Season update, which added new river raids and reworks to Jomsvikings. Following the release of The Siege of Paris, Ubisoft confirmed it will continue to capitalize on the groundbreaking success of Assassin's Creed Valhalla by continuing to release additional DLC for game through 2022.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed Valhalla and its first expansion Wrath of the Druids are available now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows and Google Stadia.
