20th Century Fox and Ubisoft showed off a behind-the-scenes look at the "Assassin's Creed" film adaptation during E3. The new featurette teases the movie's numerous fast-paced action sequences and plenty of intrigue along with comments from star Michael Fassbender and director Justin Kurzel.

Debuting this December, "Assassin's Creed" tells the story of Callum Lynch (Fassbender) as he unlocks his genetic memories and experiences life as his ancestor Aguilar, a member of a secret order of assassins in 15th Century Spain. It's the first film based on the popular game franchise, though a sequel is already in the works.

In addition to Fassbender discussing the fight for free will among Assassins and Templars and plenty of previously unseen fight choreography, a brief clip featuring an interaction between Marion Cotillard's Dr. Sophia Rikkin and Jeremy Irons' Alan Rikkin hints at plenty of secrets yet to be revealed aboutt he movie's storyline and the motivations of Abstergo Industries, the corporation helping Callum discover his ancestor's past. Along with the initial trailer, there may be more than one reason not to trust them.

Also starring Michael K. Williams, Brendan Gleeson and Ariane Labed, "Assassin's Creed" is in theaters December 21, 2016.
