Assassination Classroom gave fans 47 episodes to bond with not only the students of Class 3-E, but their eccentric, mysterious teacher Koro-Sensei as well. Much like the students, viewers quickly saw Koro-Sensei not as a target to be eliminated, but an upstanding academic whose life needed to be preserved, and yet despite their efforts to keep their sensei alive, the kids of Class 3-E were ultimately forced to take his life.

As the series progressed and fans got more insight into Koro-Sensei's character, it's hard to believe that anyone wanted such a man to die. Below are just ten of the infinite amount of reasons why we never wanted to see anime's best sensei lose his life.

10 His Design Is Pretty Unique

If fans had no clue what Assassination Classroom was about, their interest was definitely piqued after laying eyes on the grinning yellow octopus-like creature decked in scholastic robes. It's a shame that such a unique character had to be killed, and in a perfect world, someone with such a cool design would've definitely lived on much longer than he did.

9 He Put His Own Life At Risk To Save His Students

As more of Koro-Sensei's weaknesses were revealed, he found himself increasingly becoming the target of assassins outside of Class 3-E (like Shiro and the Reaper). Even when these assassins sought to exploit his weaknesses, Koro-Sensei never hesitated to rush into the unknown if it meant protecting his students.

He even went as far as to swat bugs out of the air when he traveled across the globe with his students tucked in his robe. Because of his actions, none of them were harmed despite all of the dangerous endeavors they undertook, which makes Koro-Sensei just as much of a superb bodyguard as he is a teacher.

8 He Never Got The Chance To Become Human Again

Although Itona and Kaede were freed from the tentacles, others like Koro-Sensei and The Reaper who had undergone dramatic physical changes as a result of being injected with tentacle cells never got the chance to revert back to their human forms.

At Koro-Sensei's stage, it might not even be possible, but unfortunately, due to Koro-Sensei's death, fans will never know for sure.

7 He Never Got Another Shot At Love

During their field trip to Kyoto, the girls of Class 3-E deduced that Koro-Sensei must've had some type of romance in the past, given his infatuation with the female body.

Fans later saw that Koro-Sensei had a budding romance with Aguri Yukimura after he was captured and experimented upon for weeks, but after her premature death, he never got the chance to continue the romance that had been sparked.

6 He Convinced A Bona Fide Assassin To Change His Career

From the students of Class 3-E to the board chairman of Kunugigaoka Junior High School, Koro-Sensei made an impact on every single individual he crossed paths with. Many fans often forget his meeting with Red Eye, a sniper that Karasuma hired to dispose of Koro-Sensei during Class 3-E's field trip to Kyoto. After a brief chat with Koro-Sensei, this hardened assassin realized that he needed to take some time away from his profession.

Only Koro-Sensei can compel a killer to take a break from his number one passion: killing.

5 We Never Learned How Much Food He Can Eat Until He Gets Full

Koro-Sensei has been shown consuming huge amounts of food without bloating a bit, and his insatiable appetite occasionally compels him to munch on things like bombs or even knives! He's even devoured a whole pudding mound, and yet no one has ever seen him when he's stuffed.

Everyone has their limits with food, and he shouldn't be any different. Unfortunately, he died before he could participate in any kind of eating contest.

4 There Was An Extremely Low Probability That He Would Destroy The Earth

After Karma and Nagisa retrieved data from the International Space Station that theorized that the possibility of Koro-Sensei actually exploding and destroying the Earth was almost nonexistent if he were given a drug that Okuda already knew how to make, the students of Class 3-E abandoned their goal of assassinating their teacher, looking to keep him as an integral part of their lives moving forward.

The government had other plans, trapping Koro-Sensei in the Class 3-E school grounds as they charged the "Spear of Heaven", a weapon that, when fired, would promptly destroy Koro-Sensei and nothing else. This is what forced the students to kill their teacher after they finally resolved not to, and while it was somewhat satisfying to finally see these students accomplish what they'd been trying to for most of the series, the reminder that Koro-Sensei's death wasn't really protecting anyone just made his assassination more bittersweet than anything.

3 His Death Meant The End Of Something Great

It's natural that all good things must come to an end, but Koro-Sensei's death resulted in the end of something that was truly great. Although many of the students of Class 3-E seemed to be doing great without him (as shown in the episode "Future Time"), Koro-Sensei's death meant that these students would no longer have such an amazing guardian in their lives. His death also means that the many other classes similar to Class 3-E will never get the honor of having Koro-Sensei as a teacher.

Even someone like Nagisa, who learned from him and was even inspired to teach by him, could never come close.

2 He Bettered The Lives Of Every Student (And Teacher) Of Class 3-E

As students of Kunugigaoka Junior High School's Class 3-E, every single one of Koro-Sensei's students carried some kind of baggage that destined them to become one of society's scapegoats. From Karma and his twisted passion for violence, Nagisa's struggle with his parents' divorce, or even Isogai's difficulty to help keep his poor family financially afloat, every single one of these students were facing some kind of obstacle, and while even Koro-Sensei couldn't just make some of these issues disappear over the course of the year, he gave every single student the skills, mental fortitude, and the confidence to change the course of their lives.

Not only did he stop certain students like Itona and Kaede who were on a toxic path fueled by rage, but he even went out of his way to help other faculty members like Karasuma, Irina, and even Asano. While the books that Koro-Sensei left behind seemed to have done an ample job with helping the students get through the rest of their lives, it's a shame that such a powerful, positive force in their development was taken from them so soon.

1 He Taught And Inspired The Viewers As Well

Koro-Sensei's Students Show Him What They've Learned (Assassination Classroom)

Perhaps the biggest reason why most fans can't get over Koro-Sensei's death is due to the fact that he not only taught characters within the show important life lessons, but he did the same for fans. Despite being a fictional character, Koro-Sensei's lessons could be followed by virtually anyone.

He taught his students to believe in themselves, make use of what they have, and to be happy with life's pleasures by seizing every day to the fullest. If those lessons to live by aren't enough to convince viewers that he should've been allowed to live, then nothing probably will.
