The eighth installment of the blockbuster "Fast & Furious" has announced the official start of production with a short greeting from Cuba.

In a separate video posted on Instagram, Vin Diesel marvels that some thought the filming location would never be possible. However, the star may not have simply been enjoying a stroll through Havana with director F. Gary Gray -- he may have been dropping a clue to "Fast 8."

"We're in Cuba, where the Torettos started," he says, referring to the family of his franchise character Dom. "We're whether the Torettos first started. It's 'Fast 8,' it's Dom Toretto here, back in his home ... homeland, and Gary's about to rip it."

Few details have been revealed about the film, beyond the cast, which also includes franchise veterans Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Jason Statham, plus newcomers Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood and Kristofer Hivju.

“Fast 8″ opens April 14, 2017.
