Marvel is about to host its own version of Game of Thrones' Red Wedding in Doctor Strange #5.

HBO's Game of Thrones similarly threw a wedding where nearly all the attendees were murdered in "The Rains of Castamere," the ninth episode of the show's third season. The massacre occurred when Lord Walder Frey lured Robb Stark, his wife Talisa, his mother Catelyn Stark and a number of others into a trap after Robb went back on his promise to marry one of Frey's daughters.

Doctor Strange Is Already Knee-Deep in a Murder Mystery

Marvel's new Doctor Strange series launched in March 2023 from writer Jed MacKay, artist Pasqual Ferry, colorist Matt Hollingsworth and letterer VC's Cory Petit. Having recently returned from the grave in 2022's Clea-focused Strange series, Stephen starts off on a new adventure in Doctor Strange as he once again begins offering his magical services to the greater Marvel Universe.

The end of the issue, however, sees one of Stephen's old foes, Aggamon, the Sorcerer Supreme of the Purple Dimension, killed. While Aggamon's murderer is unseen, the final word he manages to speak before being killed is "strange."

The story continues in Doctor Strange #2, which releases on April 26, 2023. The synopsis for the issue reads, "

An unending sleeping sickness has struck the children of Bleecker Street! There can only be one culprit behind this attack. It’s up to Doctor Strange and Clea to travel into the Dream Dimension to confront their old foe, Nightmare. But all is not what they seem…and what they discover will shock them!"

Doctor Strange #5 is written by MacKay, features art by Ferry, cover art by Alex Ross and variant cover art by Dustin Nguyen and Leinil Francis Yu. The issue releases on July 5, 2023, from Marvel.
