DC Comics‘ first creator exclusivity announcement of the new year is artist Barry Kitson, artist on the recently completed “Empire” and “JLA: Year One.” He’s signed a 3 year exclusivity deal with the publisher.
“I’m exceptionally happy to be part of DC’s plans for the next three years and flattered that they should display such confidence in me,” Kitson said in a release. “DC has always been a great company to work for, but I don’t think I can remember a time when there was such an air of enthusiasm and anticipation about the future, so I am particularly honored and excited to be part of what’s happening. I’d also like to say thank you to DC for their support for ‘Empire.’ Without their faith in the project I don’t think Mark [Waid] and I could ever have completed the first arc. For the immediate future I’m concentrating on a major JSA miniseries written by Kevin Anderson which will give me the opportunity to draw all the original JSAers for the first time and allow me to work again with Senior Editor Peter Tomasi.”
“Barry Kitson is a longtime member of the DC family and we are extremely happy that he will working with us exclusively for the next three years,” Dan DiDio, DC’s VP – Editorial said in a press release. “Barry’s style is synonymous with quality and there is no better place for him to be applying his craft than here.”
DC also mentioned in their release a collected edition of “Empire” #0 – 6 would be solicited in the near future.
