While Spider-Gwen might get all the attention these days, the original Gwen Stacy is about to get one more chance to shine. On Twitter, Stanley "Artgerm" Lau, revealed his cover art for the first issue of Marvel’s upcoming series Symbiote Spider-Man.The image shows a smiling Gwen Stacy sporting a classic look, with long hair, a turtle neck sweater, a headband and pea coat. Over the years, we’ve seen a number of different looks for Gwen, and her appearance has certainly evolved since she kicked off her superhero career as Spider-Gwen. Artgerm’s version of her is clearly a return to the style many readers are used to from the earlier days of the character’s history.RELATED: Marvel's Symbiote Spider-Man Series Returns to the Alien Costume Saga

As Artgerm wrote in the tweet, “I really want to capture the exact moment when Peter fell in love with Gwen taking her photo. Pete said to himself "Damn...she is gorgeous.”

This throwback creative choice makes sense for Symbiote Spider-Man, since the series, by Peter David and Greg Land, will be revisiting one of Peter’s most iconic story arcs, the Alien Costume Saga. It will explore the weeks when Peter was wearing his black costume before discovering that it was an alien symbiote.

As Marvel's April solicitations revealed, this in-continuity story will also recount an unseen battle between the wall-crawler and Mysterio, just a few months before the villain's cinematic debut in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Symbiote Spider-Man #1, by Peter David and Greg Land, is set to be released in April.
