It's hard to believe that since Arrow first aired in 2012, the show has spawned an ever-growing number of DC-based TV shows, including Flash, Supergirl, Black Lightning, and Legends of Tomorrow. And with each series, fans and viewers new to the concepts these shows are based on are greeted by more and more DC characters. From street vigilantes like Wild Dog to alien races like the Dominators, to the literal vengeance of God, the Spectre, these shows haven't shied away from their comic book roots.

Of course, with the number of characters DC Comics has, these shows have barely scratched the surface. There is an endless toybox of some amazing, and some not so amazing, heroes for these shows to play with. But who do we hope to see in the future, and who do we hope keeps away?

10 Join: Blue Beetle

Blue Beetle 90s And Now

Ted Kord, the second Blue Beetle has been hinted at for ages on Arrow and other shows in the Arrowverse. Kord Industries exists in the universe, and Ted himself has been mentioned. So how is it that Blue Beetle hasn't shown up yet? An even better question, if Blue Beetle did show up, would it be Ted, or would the third Blue Beetle, Jamie Reyes, make more sense.

Brandon Routh's Atom was already about as perfect a version of Ted Kord as we could hope for, and the Atom/Commander Steel friendship on Legends of Tomorrow is pretty much the Blue Beetle/Booster Gold friendship fans would be looking for, so Ted may feel like a retired. But Jamie could bring something new to a series if he were to show up.

9 Stay Away: Mister Miracle

Mister Miracle and Big Barda sitting on the beach

Mister Miracle is one of the most interesting heroes in the DC Universe, and his story - the son of Highfather of the New Gods raised on Apocolips where he was tortured becomes the universe's greatest escape artist and moves to Earth with his wife to become a star - is a great tale to tell, but we need to be honest, the Arrowverse shows just don't have the budget to pull this kind of thing off.

Mister Miracle and Big Barda wouldn't be hard to do, but do we really want to see a Darkseid who isn't all that Darkseid could be? Unless a show is given a major budget increase to pull off a great look Darkseid, Scott Free and the other New Gods should stay away for now.

8 Join: Oracle

As Batwoman further explores the world of the Arrowverse version of Gotham City and it's past, it seems impossible that Oracle, aka Barbara Gordon, won't end up playing a part in everything. The original Batgirl who was forced to give up the costume after being shot and paralyzed by the Joker, Barbara became the hacker/researcher for Batman and his crew as Oracle. In time, Oracle started helping all the heroes of the DC Universe, keeping them in contact during major events. Not having Oracle show up now that there is a series set in Gotham feels wrong.

7 Stay Away: Nightwing

Nightwing

On the other side of the same coin, Nightwing is a character that the Arrowverse should keep away from. The first Robin, Dick Grayson became Nightwing after deciding that he didn't want to live under Batman's shadow anymore. For decades, Nightwing has built his own fan following, and he isn't a character that should be playing second fiddle to anyone.

So why not give Nightwing his own show? One thing the Arrowverse has done well so far is making sure that each series has it's own feel, from Arrow's street-level action to Flash's superhero mysteries, to Black Lightning's story about legacy, to Legends of Tomorrow's endless weirdness. The question is, does the Arrowverse need two shows about Gotham heroes trying to live up to Batman? Probably not.

6 Join: Impulse

The way that Flash introduced XS as the daughter of Barry Allen and Iris West is a big change from who the character is in the comics, where she is their granddaughter from the 30th-Century. Luckily, Barry and Iris have a second grandchild in the comics, Bart Allen aka Impulse, and he could be a great addition to the Flash series.

Impulse, as his name suggests, isn't one to think ahead, and he needs someone to mentor him. We got to see touches of Barry as a mentor with XS, which was great, but there's no reason to drop all of that now. Plus, Impulse could help bring some comedy back to the show, lightheadedness that has been missing for a while now.

5 Stay Away: General Glory

Forgotten DC 90s General Glory

Created as a spoof of Captain America, General Glory was a fun character that DC Comics ended up turning into a tragic figure when it was clear that the joke had run its course. And while there was a period where having a World War II super-soldier show up and act all prim and proper could have worked as a joke on the Chirs Evans Captain America appearing in the Marvel movies, that time has passed. It's best to just leave General Glory in the 1990s where he was born and died.

4 Join: Halo

A founding member of the Outsiders, a team that Black Lightning leads in the current comics, Halo first appeared in the comics in 1983, but her appearances are few and far between. Recently, the character played a major role in the third season of Young Justice, bringing her to the attention of a new generation of fans. It may be time for Halo to show up on Black Lightning.

Halo's light-based powers, where every color from the spectrum that she uses has a different ability, would also be a simple but interesting power to show off on the show. And it could help bring us closer to seeing the Outsiders in live-action.

3 Stay Away: Adam Strange

Strange Adventures Adam Strang0e Carmine Infantino

Having recently appeared on the SyFy series Krypton, we got a taste of a live-action Adam Strange, but we also saw that the character may not actually be ready for live-action. At least, it looks like a comic accurate version of him, including the fin on the helmet, isn't. And if we can't have an Adam Strange that looks like Adam Strange, then what's the point?

Add in that the Arrowverse shows tend to stay on Earth, and half of Adam Strange's story is set on another planet. If we can't join Adam Strange on Rann, we'd be missing out on a whole lot of the fun of the character.

2 Join: Animal Man

animal-man-vertigo

With the power to take on any attribute of any animal nearby, Animal Man is one of DC's more interesting characters. What really makes him perfect for the Arrowverse is that his power doesn't transform him in any way, so the budget of a show wouldn't take a big hit to show off what Animal Man can do.

Adding to it all is Animal Man's constant near successes. This is a character who always feels like he is on the brink of breaking into becoming a major DC hero, but for some reason, it never quite happens. Perhaps being on a TV series could help Animal Man break through to the next level.

1 Stay Away: Crimson Fox

Twin sisters who trade off being a superhero so that no one suspects either of them as actually being a hero, Crimson Fox has an interesting dynamic that could make for good TV except for one thing, the character has never really been interesting. Perhaps she could work for an episode or two, but in the long run, there just isn't enough to the character to make her worthy of being brought to the Arrowverse while there are still so many great characters who could appear. Maybe after Ambush Bug gets his shot, it'll be her turn.
