The CW Arrowverse has grown from one series about a vigilante archer to a multiverse-spanning epic that covers many shows and characters. Since there are so many narratives to juggle, the best way for the heroes to interact is through crossover events. While this began on a smaller scale with The Flash and Green Arrow joining forces, it has since included heroes from various classic DC television shows from as early as the 1966 Batman series. However, while it has grown in ambition, the crossovers have never lost their heart, still offering fun and emotional adventures for each hero involved.

While Crisis on Infinite Earths represents a culmination of years of storytelling, a new event may only spell certain doom for the heroes. A brand new crossover is coming to the CW called "Armageddon" that looks even more ambitious than its previous Crisis event. But considering the steady escalation of enemies and stakes, where do the past six Arrowverse events rank against one another?

6. Elseworlds

Of all of the crossover events in the Arrowverse, Elseworlds is easily its most bizarre. The event is explored through The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl and sees Barry Allen and Oliver Queen switch identities after Dr. John Deegan rewrites reality. The event then sees the heroes taking on this new foe who appears as an imposter Superman in a black suit and eventually fixes their reality.

While entertaining, the crossover is mainly used to set up the Crisis on Infinite Earths event. It also does a great job at setting up the Batwoman show and also making the Flash from the '90s TV show canon to the Arrowverse.

5. Crisis on Earth-X

Taking place before Elseworlds, Crisis on Earth-X is a great example of how the characters in the Arrowverse played fast and loose with multiversal travel. This event spanned The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl and DC's Legends of Tomorrow and has the heroes fighting on an Earth where the Nazis won and have taken over the world. The only ones capable of stopping their influence from spreading across the multiverse are the Arrowverse heroes. Teaming up, they fight evil doppelgangers of Green Arrow and Supergirl, along with the Reverse Flash.

The series is an entertaining team-up that stays largely self-contained. However, it also ends and continues character arcs by featuring the loss of a longtime hero and the weddings of both Barry and Oliver to Felicity and Iris.

4. Heroes Join Forces

Arrowverse Characters Hawkman Hawkgirl

Heroes Join Forces was released as the second crossover of the Arrowverse and is told in both Arrow and The Flash. While it's only two episodes, it's a perfect balance of continuing the stories of its main characters while introducing a new villain, collection of heroes and a brand new show. With Vandal Savage trying to kill both Hawkman and Hawkgirl and start a world-ending crusade, it's up to the heroes to work together to stop him. While they succeed, it kickstarts an adventure led by Rip Hunter to chase Savage through time in DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

The crossover is incredibly well-paced and features great action and team-up moments.

3. Flash vs. Arrow

Flash vs. Arrow was the crossover that started it all; a two-part adventure told in The Flash and Arrow. Compared to the Arrowverse's future crossovers, this one is noticeably smaller in scale. Rather than focusing on world-ending catastrophes, the crossover tells two separate stories revolving around the heroes stopping enemies like Captain Boomerang and Roy G Biv. However, in between these fights, Oliver Queen also trains Barry Allen on how to be a better hero and the two clash in a surprisingly close fight. Rather than the heroes facing off in their primes, Barry is still early on in his speedster career, which helps give Oliver an edge.

Looking back, Flash vs. Arrow is a great smaller-scale crossover with a high-stakes story.

2. Invasion!

Invasion! is one of the more simplistic crossovers as it is a straightforward alien invasion story. It also marks the first time Supergirl and the Legends of Tomorrow joined forces with The Flash and Green Arrow. The crossover took place in Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow and has the heroes holding back an invasion force known as the Dominators.

The crossover is one of the most entertaining of the series as it follows some great alien tropes, like the heroes being abducted while still offering classic superhero moments. One standout is a face-off, with every hero at the time taking on the Dominators head-on. While the show didn't feature any lead-ups to future events, it did solidify Supergirl's place in the Arrowverse, letting her cross between hers and Barry's universe when needed.

1. Crisis on Infinite Earths

Crisis on Infinite Earths feature

Crisis on Infinite Earths is to the Arrowverse what Avengers: Endgame is to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This story was years in the making and sees the universe's heroes saving the multiverse against the Anti-Monitor. The show continues through Arrow, The Flash, Batwoman, Supergirl and DC's Legends of Tomorrow and features cameos from classic DC shows like Birds of Prey and Smallville. It's also the final bow for Stephen Amell as the Green Arrow, who goes through a powerful character arc.

Ultimately, Crisis on Infinite Earths is an experience that sets up a bright future and offers more than enough surprises for longtime fans that make this event the Arrowverse's best.

"Armageddon" will be coming this November on The Flash. In addition, Supergirl, Superman and Lois, Batwoman and DC's Legends of Tomorrow are airing on the CW.
