The CW's Arrowverse has become well known for its annual crossover events, which ranged in size and scope. However, next year's crossover will be a bit smaller according to DCTV producer Greg Berlanti.

Berlanti noted that the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic had impacted production, including upcoming crossovers. "In terms of what our next crossover event will be next year, I think truly because of COVID right now and the pandemic, our aspirations aren’t quite as large," he said. "We’d just like to start shooting again."

Berlanti's fellow producer, Marc Guggenheim, had previously stated that next year's crossover would take a step down from the sheer scale of Crisis on Infinite Earths. "Last year we sort of took a step back and... took a breath and then took the giant bite out of the cake. [Next year] we're going to take a step back again. We're going to take several," he said.

The upcoming crossover was planned to take place between Batwoman and new show Superman and Lois; however, it's unclear if that crossover will still take place due to the pandemic and Batwoman star Ruby Rose's departure.

Berlanti had appeared with DC Films president Walter Hamada and DC publisher/chief creative officer Jim Lee to discuss how the Multiverse would impact future DC films and TV shows. During Crisis on Infinite Earths, Grant Gustin's Flash encountered Ezra Miller's Flash which led to the Multiverse becoming the "keystone" of DC's approach.
