During Arrow's sixth season, Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen surprised audiences when the character name-dropped Bruce Wayne during a press conference. After more than six years, the shared DC Universe unfolding on the television screen had finally confirmed the existence of one of its biggest characters -- even if we still hadn't, and perhaps never will meet him.

It made sense, then, that when it was recently announced that this season's Arrowverse crossover will introduce Kate Kate/Batwoman, most fans were quick to assume that the character would be introduced on Earth-1, home of Green Arrow, the Flash and the Legends of Tomorrow.

However, that theory needs to be revisited in the wake of the announcement that the upcoming superhero event will not only feature Ruby Rose's debut as Batwoman, but the Arrowverseintroduction of Lois Lane, along with the long-awaited return of Tyler Hoechlin's Superman. The former has been name dropped, but never cast, and the latter hasn't been seen since the Season 2 finale of Supergirl. With Clark and Lois a part of the crossover, there's every reason to believe that a considerable part of the event will unfold on Earth-38, home of the Kryptonian cousins. Furthermore, it's likely that Kate Kane's Batwoman will also debut on Earth-38.

Arrow may have named-dropped Bruce Wayne, but Supergirl has been home to a handful of Batman references. Well, of Bat-related references, at least. Without calling out the Dark Knight by name, there have been a number of mentions of a masked vigilante character located in Earth-38's Gotham City. Kara Zor-El once mentioned a vigilante "with tons of gadgets and demons," and Jimmy Olsen once mentioned "Clark's friend," to which Winn answered by mimicking bat-ears.

All that having been said, it's important to note that every time Batman was "mentioned" on the show, his name was never uttered. Everyone watching simply assumed the characters were talking about Batman -- but what if, all those times, they were talking about Batwoman?

Batwoman being based in Supergirl's reality certainly wouldn't be out of place. After all, Supergirl's Earth-38 is a place that showcases powerful women, from Alex Danvers and Kara Zor-El to the President of the United States. If there is one place where a female member of the bat-family would thrive, this is it.

Superman and Supergirl

Even if it turns out that the Supergirl nods were, in fact, references to Batman, that's fine; it can still work in favor of Batwoman's debut. Where better to introduce the character than in a place where we know Batman is actually active? With so many heroes on Earth-1, it's actually strange that no one has mentioned a Bat-Man in Gotham City, like they do on Earth-38. The obvious reason is that in Oliver Queen's world, Bruce Wayne isn't Batman yet -- or, perhaps he never will be. Either way, introducing Kate Kane on Earth-38 seems like the most organic way to bring the character into the Arrowverse fold.

Earth-1 is a place that is already filled with superheroes, while Earth-38 is one that only has a handful (so far). Furthermore, it's a place where we already know that a a Gotham-based, masked vigilante is active. There has always been a correlation between the Superman and Batman mythologies, and having Batwoman and Supergirl share a planet, and perhaps forger their own "world's finest" alliance, just makes sense.
