Arrow's Promotes Manu Bennett to Series Regular For Season 2

Anyone familiar with DC Comics knows Slade Wilson -- or rather his codename Deathstroke -- as a mastermind tactician who uses his highly advanced mental and physical skills to kill for a price. Usually, he's a bad guy. But on The CW's Arrow things are a bit more complicated.

This new version of Slade, played by Spartacus veteran Manu Bennett, allied himself with a shipwrecked Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) to fight mercenary Eddie Fyers and find a way off their island prison.

Given the character's regular appearance in flashbacks in recent episodes, it didn't come as much surprisewhen The Hollywood Reporter revealed Bennett has been upgraded to series regular for the second season. Bennett joins recently promoted cast members Colton Haynes and Emily Bett Rickards.

Here's the official CW synopsis for "Salvation," the next episode:

OLIVER MUST SAVE ROY HARPER FROM A MURDERER — An angry resident of The Glades who calls himself “The Savior” (guest star Christopher Redman) embarks on a kidnapping and killing spree to punish those he believes have wronged the residents of his neighborhood. To make things worse, he broadcasts these murders online and claims he was inspired by Arrow’s vigilantism. Oliver is horrified by this statement and vows to stop “The Savior,” but his manhunt in intensified after Thea comes to him in tears and tells him Roy (guest star Colton Haynes) has been kidnapped. Laurel is surprised when her father starts to believe her mother’s (guest star Alex Kingston) claim that Sara is still alive. Meanwhile, Malcom tells Moira to find the person responsible for his attempted murder. David Ramsey and Colin Donnell also star. Nick Copus directed the episode written by Drew Z. Greenberg & Wendy Mericle.

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
