SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Leap of Faith," the latest episode of Arrow Season 8.

Arrow just bid goodbye to a recurring character. In "Leap of Faith," the latest episode, the flash-forwards sent Team Arrow into the Deathstroke Gang's lair. During the ensuing conflict, JJ Diggle killed Zoe Ramirez, who had followed in her father's footsteps and became a vigilante in her own right.

Last week, JJ sent his cronies to Team Arrow's bunker and held William hostage until they gave him what he wanted: a list of everyone who supports the Star City unification movement. This week, the team went to get it back. They immediately launched a counteroffensive, where they infiltrated the Deathstroke Gang's headquarters.

Zoe was against the mission from the outset. However, when push came to shove, she accompanied William, Connor and Mia. Although they managed to sneak in undetected, their cover didn't last long. In the ensuing fight, JJ cornered Mia and would have slit her throat if Zoe hadn't interfered. She knocked him to the ground and stunned him, but only for a moment. He leapt back to his feet and ran her through with his katana.

With a scream of rage, Connor took after his adoptive brother. Mia fell to her knees next to Zoe and cradled her head in her lap, promising, "We're going to get you out of here."

"Tell my father I'm sorry about everything," Zoe choked out. "And that I love him." With that, her eyes fluttered closed and she passed away, while Mia sobbed over her lifeless body.

Zoe made her Arrowverse debut in Season 5. In the present timeline, she is the young daughter of Rene and his late wife Laura. In the future timeline, however, she is a Canary. She trained under Dinah Drake to become an expert combatant. By day, she is Chief of Staff for her father, the Mayor of the Glades. By night, she is a vigilante, protecting the streets from the likes of criminals, including the Deathstroke gang.

Considering the events of the episode's cliffhanger ending, Zoe's death may not be permanent. As the episode drew to a close, Mia, William and Connor were transported back to present day, where they ran into Oliver Queen and the rest of Team Arrow. This means they could change the future timeline as they know it. For instance, they could prevent Star City from falling into decay or somehow warn themselves about Zoe's death, preventing it from happening altogether. First, though, they will need to figure out why the Monitor reunited them.

Airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Arrow's final season stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary, Katie Cassidy as Black Siren, Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak, Joseph David-Jones as Connor Hawke and Ben Lewis as William Clayton-Queen.
